LSU goes 10-2 in my opinion and wins the Cotton Bowl. LSU will likely lose at Bama, and drop one other game on the schedule. Florida will be a revenge game, Texas AM at home is a circled date, at Mississippi and Mississippi State are relatively tough, but come on - the recruiting classes we have assembled should be able to overcome some losses. Our defense may be inexperienced, but they won't suck. The offense will be improved and should sustain much better allowing less pressure on the defense.

Maybe Ole Miss and Bama, but do you seriously see Florida or A&M winning in Tiger Stadium this season?

also don't buy this whole "flying under the radar" talk and comparing this to the preseason before the '03 season.

This season is more like the 2011 season........unproven defensive players with tremendous upside but with a better offense.....

The schedules are also comparable in terms of difficulty......

I think our offense is so underrated due to past failures with our scheme and qb personal over the last 4 years.......

That Stigma can't be forgotten and for good reason, but realistically, if the Tigers perform at the level that Cam Cameron has had success in college/pro ranks.....

This team will prosper.

Really? Because I remember believing that we'd be in the BCSNCG right after the 2011 Cotton Bowl.

We had pretty lofty expectations in 2011.

Sure everyone knew we'd be good, but all the talk was about crappy qb play and the insanely tough schedule........for measure Athlon had us at 8 and Steele at 7.

2011 had higher defensive expectations though so that may be hard to argue.

Even though I think the 2013 LSU Defense will be top 3 in the SEC and top 10 in the nation.

I agree. Might see some talented Freshmen get some significant play time, too.

It doesn't matter where they start off. If LSU takes care of business everything will work its way out in the end.

Accuse me of drinking the kool-aid, but I got a great feeling about this year.

Mett with a a year of SEC experience with Cam calling plays will lead to a offense similar to '07, and give the D a lot of time to rest in between series and will result in the defense being at LEAST a top 15 D.

Can't believe anyone here thinks OLE PISS can beat us, they have no depth, we will wear them out by the 4th Q if it hasn't been decided by then. Florida won't be as good, A&M is losing half their OL. Georgia will be tough.

13-1, hopefully with the loss not being to Bama. At worst 12-2.

I hate preseason "rankings." They really should be called preseason "projections". All things being equal I don't think you can say LSU is the 17th best team going into the season. However, if you're looking at their difficult schedule and the players lost on defense, and project that they'll lose 3 games, then I understand the #17 "ranking".

That's a great point. If we had Georgia's schedule, I predict 12-0 or 11-1. And we'd be ranked up there where they are. LSU is a Top 5 team on paper. After Bama, it's anyone's guess.

I agree about preseason rankings. They're even more a problem than a playoff system imo. It's like term limits in Congress -- it's an acute issue, but it'll never happen. We are a rank-based society. If we ranked teams starting in October, a 4 team playoff would be perfect. You'd probably actually have the 4 very best teams.

I just have a feeling the ball's just won't bounce our way vs Ole Miss and Florida. I'm not sold on Florida, I could predict 9-3 just as well.

I think we'll go into Georgia and get the W and go into Oxford and get exposed. Just my take, I hope to hell I'm wrong!

I see a best-case scenario of 10-2, but not a likely scenario. Just my take.

aTm, yeah. I'd make them a FG fav at TS, because if we don't knock out Manziel, he's gonna find a way to tie the game by the buzzer; we don't have a Sonic Sam or Mingo to chase him down, box him in. Which is an absolute must; even Bama couldn't do that.

Still, I'm going with 8-4 -- Ole Miss, Florida, Bama, aTm losses, but a nice, redemptive bowl win.

If we lose to those teams, no bowl could redeem that.

You aren't exactly basing that on anything. You aren't giving a take. Not sure how you could rationally think ole miss will "expose" us.
