LSU will be the highest ranked SEC team next preseason. We return 9 starters on offense and throw Mettenberger into the mix. We return 7 on defense with Pep being replaced easily IMO. I think finding replacements for Nevis and Sheppard are gonna be harder than replacing PP at cornerback. Mathieu will fill in nicely opposite Mo with Brooks & Simon backing them up.

Expectations will be very high for LSU next year. Hope we live up to the potential. Top 5 matchup in Dallas.

Those are my two biggest concerns, especially Nevis; I don't know if we have anyone that can control the line like he does...

It'll be a big opener for both teams. That's all that matters.

Even Duilbleau thinks we're gonna make a serious run next and he even believes that Mett will beat out JJ. Who knew GG was a sunshine pumper. GG

Both top ten. Oregon possibly number one, depending on how well they play in the title game. Personally I think they lose to Auburn but still start out in the top 5. If LSU takes care of business against A&M(remember they defeated the Big12 champs this year) they could also be near the top five. The perception coming out of the bowl games does matter to the pre-season voters, particularly when the bulk of the main cast are returning. Mike Detillier said in an interview(on the radio) yesterday that his pre-season SEC picks would be LSU and USCe based on the players returning, incoming freshmen and juniors likely to leave the conference.

Mike Detillier also said this yesterday, stating that LSU and USCe look to return the most talent once all the likely departing juniors are factored out of the conference. He said that Freak Johnson would step right into the void created by the departure of Nevis and Pep. Best H/S DT he's ever seen. Here's hoping we rock Dallas twice in 2011.

Oregon's 2010 Depth Chart

Oregon does lose 11 (10 if you count Cliff Harris as a starter) from their starting lineup...including most of their OL and their stud WR Jeff Maehl.

Oregon rotates fresh bodies quite freely so the backups have a lot of game experience. The QB, Thomas, will be back as well as the two main RB's, James and Barner. The offense will continue to roll.

I will venture Oregon will start out in the top 5, LSU in the top 10. The winner will continue to climb, the loser will eventually climb back, but the NC might be out of reach if there are undefeateds again.

What a great game to start the year. Yes?

Isn't the Oregon roster filled in with Seniors this year? I could be wrong but I doubt they have the depth to turn over from a populated graduating class.

Their front seven is getting decimated. They lose five starters there, and three on the OLine.

On top of that they lose a starting corner and two starting WRs.
