Out of everyone we played at home this year, who is a big enough draw for CBS to concede a game next year in order to change the one this year to a night game?
I don't know why this concept is so difficult to understand.

You can't be serious. TV contracts are all about ratings. The better the average ratings for SEC games the more leverage the SEC has in negotiating the next TV contract. Their biggest concerns in ratings and viewers.
I guess I said that wrong. Of course the SEC cares about ratings. I meant I doubt they care, as in doubt they would be opposed to moving a game to primetime. They would be for it if anything.

Yeah and by the current contracts CBS has one night game per year, blew their load, and can't unilaterally move the game to the night without ESPN being cool with it. Why would ESPN want more competition for their ABC and ESPN telecasts unless they were getting something significant.

How is a night game an advantage to Alabama?

Nothing more special in college football than a Saturday night game in BDS.

I bet CBS overpaid for the game. Especially if they gave espn their choice of games next year.
So we may have the gumps at night in tiger stadium next year on ESPN. It's a win-win situation for LSU's national exposures in prime time folks.

It would be a huge advantage for us if the situation was reversed. You don't think this advantages them at all?

They could very easily have chosen bama-tenn and let lsu have the night game.
LSU has been on National TV alot this year. To some extent they have sort of become Americas team and get pretty decent ratings nationally.
CBS will pick them, especially considering they were the #1 team, playing a ranked opponent in somewhat of a rivalry game. LSU and Auburn have played some good games over the past several years.

THIS. I have to laugh at the notion that a night game makes that big of a difference. Many of the loudest Bama home games I`ve ever been to were 2:30 CBS games. The night game will just make the gameday experience and tailgating better. CBS would have fought to put this game in prime time regardless of where it was being played. BTW, I love watching LSU home night games on TV and prefer LSU getting night TV games on a regular basis.

This almost GUARANTEES that we get Bama at night next season if they previous rumors are true that ESPN gets first choice of a night game for any SEC game next season

I think the whole night thing is overrated in regards to what actually happens on the field. Gets people fired up yeah, but the best team still usually wins. But we are known for night games. When did Bama become known for it?

Guys, settle down. LSU plays better at night. This is good for us.

Why in the hell are most of you people upset about this? I can't wrap my head around it.
This is purely good news

Why do they have to be known for it? We're known for it because our games, when television doesn't dictate otherwise, are at night. So we've become accustomed to it and made a name for it.
With that said, the best team does usually win but you don't think we've ever had an affect on another team to our advantage? I can think of several games where that has occurred.

@LSUBillMartin The last time @LSUfball played a night game at Alabama was Nov 2003. Tigers won 27-3 and went on to win first national title since 1958.

I understand that, and auburn being ranked was probably the deciding factor. I don't know the #'s on who's games have drawn more viewers, but in hindsight, the more competitive game was bama-tenn. 6-6 at the half vs. 21-3 at the half. As a random viewer, which game will you stick around to watch?
I'm in the crowd that's not upset the game was moved, but upset that we had to hear the whole "price of success" garbage and see a 70+ tradition lost.
The petty and childish side of me says lsu fans in tuscaloosa need to trash as much cbs equipment after the game as they can get their hands on.

I think people (and me as well) are a little pissed that we heard that "games can't be moved to night games, so deal with it" only to have a night game announced.
Also, we wanted an SEC game, at night, in Tiger Stadium. The powers that be moved just enough to say "Eff You, Tigers. We'll give you your night game, IN BRYANT DENNY! Hahahah!"
At least that is how it feels.
