This is obviously a lie. There is no way it can be at night.
I learned that from reading the rant.

frick CBS.
Hope this pisses the team off. Come out and embarrass the Gumps in front of the world.
Also, there was nothing Alleva could do to get us a night game this year at TS. Our schedule just didn't have a big enough draw.

I'd bet my house that if this game was played in BR this year, CBS would have done the EXACT SAME THING and moved it to primetime. It's not about the location, it's about the matchup.

Well if you go by the current structure regarding CBS and ESPN selections, this should never have occurred. Hence why people are justifiably mad.

I really can't be the only one who sees this as a prime time 1 vs 2 matchup, not conceeding to Bama. Bama doesn't care about night games.

You would lose your house.

So you honestly believe that CBS wouldn't attempt to get the game in primetime just because it would be in BR? Seriously?

When did we play the #1 or #2 at home?

My question is whether the SEC offices have a say in this. CBS and ESPN are our employer, but they're under contract with us. So CBS simply has to make a deal with ESPN and the SEC is completely at the disposal of their choice? Serious question.

I wonder if Alleva even voiced any opposition to this
Why in the hell would he be opposed to it?
LSU gets more exposure, its better for LSU win or lose. They want exposure for the program and LSU. They want to be able to command top dollar when the negotiate contracts. If they can point to ratings in negotiations then the can command higher contracts prices.
This is about maximizing exposure and the all american dollar. Its as simple as that, its much bigger than the football game on the field win or lose.

I'd imagine the SEC must have some say, it is their TV contract. I doubt they would care at all about moving a game to primetime to get more viewers though.

Exactly. This has nothing to do with location, it's the matchup. And Alabama normally plays day games, and I think prefers them.

Out of everyone we played at home this year, who is a big enough draw for CBS to concede a game next year in order to change the one this year to a night game?
Posted on 10/23/11 at 2:50 pm to LSUPHILLY72
I bet CBS overpaid for the game. Especially if they gave espn their choice of games next year. I mean CBS had the rights to the game anyway.

You can't be serious. TV contracts are all about ratings. The better the average ratings for SEC games the more leverage the SEC has in negotiating the next TV contract. Their biggest concerns in ratings and viewers.
Also exposure of SEC football and the programs is very big. It attracts students and the best players to the league nationwide which creates better football teams in the future and ensures SEC dominance.

And given the way the games played out yesterday, did it really look like lsu-aub was the better pick for their game, or the game that was tied at halftime?
They could very easily have chosen bama-tenn and let lsu have the night game. There would have been a lot less anger over this had CBS passed on lsu-auburn, IMO. Add to this their decision to play their double-header on 10/1 not only took another conf night game from us, but put it at the 11:21am slot.

SWEEEET! Love a night game, don't care where its at.
Some of us have drill the first weekend of the month and this allows thousands of LA guardsmen a chance to see the game so all is well.
