What has happened to our fans?

2000 to 2007 was great for Tiger Stadium. those days are gone gameday experience wise. we had some exciting games in 08 and 2010 and the whole season of 2011. but after 1-9 it all changed. things out our control. you should know who is responsible.

That 2000 season was filled with tremendous, memorable contests, including vs Tennessee, Alabama, Miss St and the Peach Bowl upset of Georgia Tech.

Had the Rant existed back then, the only things mentioned would have been the UAB humiliation, the blowout loss at Florida, and the final regular season upset loss at Arkansas. That UAB would have been hashed and rehashed mercilessly.

Studs on that years Tennessee squad:

Defense line:
Will Overstreet
Albert Haynesworth
John Henderson

Linebackers: (all 3 seniors)
Eric Westmoreland
Anthony Sessions
Dominque Stevenson

Db:
Andre Lott

All started in the NFL!!!

Offense:

Rb:
Travis Henry
Travis Stephens

Wr:
Donte Stallworth
Cedric Wilson

Ol:

Lsu has no business being on the same field with this team much less winning.

Behold the first great game of the legendary Nick Saban!!!

Pretty well stated. This was just such a fun time to be a Tiger fan. As a kid growing up with this it felt surreal that “My” team was capable of being “The” team. My first game in Tiger Stadium was a 1998 loss to Kentucky. Second was a drubbing in 1999 by Florida. Never did I think we’d be elite back then.

I would still say there have been some awesome atmospheres in BR post 2007, just a little different..

Some off the top of my head are:
2009 UF - Loss
2010 Bama - Win
2012 Bama- Loss (This may be as good of an atmosphere as LSU can produce)
2013 South Carolina - Win
2014 Bama - Loss
2014 Ole Miss - Win
2016 Bama - Loss

INACCURATE as usual. Davey was drafted by New England. Reed was drafted by Buffalo. Davis was drafted by Houston. Tennessee was a good team but LSU was deadly.

I believe it was 14 point spread too. LSU had no business to be in that game. The student section was empty by halftime. Those of us who stayed were rewarded.

Empty my arse. It only emptied when Corbello was about to hit the game winner. Then he missed sending it to OT with all of us already on the field.

Student section was never empty in early 2000s unless we were getting blown out by Florida.

Tiger Stadium being empty really started around 2012. Apathy towards Miles and change in game day experience was contributing factors.

I used to know everyone around me at all games up until 2012. That is when it became a different person every game. Half the time they were in wrong seat, argue with you a quarter about it, take selfie with field in background, get up and leave before half because they wanted to beat traffic. That is Tiger Stadium now.

LSU loses to UAB, next week The Tennessee newspaper said Tennessee will 100 percent win and LSU beat Tennessee even though they had a zero percent chance.

LSU loses to Troy, next week lsu goes tot he swamp and even when LSU has a loaded team it still takes a miracle to win in the swamp and lsu wom in the swamp even though they did not have a loaded team.

This game started the turnaround IMO. Proud to say I was there.

And, as has been mentioned, it came on the heels of the UAB loss. I remember at halftime the aura was "can we hold on and win this thing". The way the second half unfolded was even better, because it showed true resiliency.

Set us up for the Peach Bowl win that year. That along with 2001 SECCG and crushing of Illinois in Sugar Bowl really got the train moving. Unfortunately Mauck got injured in 2002 when we were 6-1 at the time and just crushed UF at the swamp.

The 2003 regular season game in TS against UGA is still my favorite - in regards to "we have beat down some demons and we're about to be special". I hope to never forget the TS crowd going nuts screaming "LSU! LSU! LSU!" during the TV timeout - after UGA took a screen pass 90 yards to tie the game. A few years back the crowd would have been "here we go again". Instead, just pure support of the team. And did they deliver!

Good times. Apologies if a bit nostalgic.

Was a student for both this game and the UGA game. At this game, was low in the student section when I got to the fence I was pushed too close to lift my leg to climb over and for a split second thought I was about to get crushed. The guys behind grabbed my foot and sent me FLYING over the fence. It was awesome.

The UGA game was awesome in the student section. I can still see the ball coming through the air to Skylar. All the UGA fans were talking shite about how we got lucky and they would see us in Atlanta. Went to that game too and they got humbled real quick.
