Billy Cannon is a legend and deserves a statue. But is anyone else uncomfortable that all of the statues on campus are exclusively sports-related? There should be at least one statue of an lsu scholar that made great strides in his/her field.
I don't know if there are any prominent scientists that attended LSU, but I know that a group of LSU scientists contributed to confirming the theory of relativity.

So that is the threshold ....dead and cannot complain. As a fanbase we are so hungry to have "icons" so we can be like Alabama or even Penn State
Yep... Who else is dead that we can build a statue to? I say Huey Long.

Love Billy.
I find statues of athletes extremely weird.
I find people that take pictures in front of statues of athletes even more weird.

Well that's awesome. Have any other statues already been announced or just these two?

What kind of liberalism is this? We come to LSU to play football baw!
Jk, academics should be celebrated too. I think donations is the key. I'm sure the sports statues are funded either by TAF or private donors. Unless TAF would be so generous as to donate towards an academic statue. I believe an LSU graduate captained the landing of the Mars rover. I bet a pretty cool statue could be him sitting/standing and holding a miniature model of the rover on his lap.

I’ll never understand the hate Dr. Cannon gets on here. But this is Rant so nothing should come as a surprise.
Meeting and having a conversation with Billy Cannon still is one of the best highlights of my life so far.
