I totally agree that it is a way to make money in a budget constrained environment....I hope some of this money goes to the university rather than the athletic department....

I have no idea how much it costs to host a home game. Factor in the extra security (including off-duty police and sheriffs deputies), damage to facilities needing repair, labor for placing and removing the barricades, traffic control, parking attendants, rest room maintenance, etc. It's more than just the trash pickup.
So you're saying it's not the principle of paying for parking, it's the amount that you don't agree with?

I'll never give up my season tickets but, I tell you, I may end up selling them more. I can afford it but it is just another attempt to get money at a time where we never have night games anymore. I wouldn't mind paying the fee if LSU would tell CBS (I know, they can't) to cram their 2:30 PM kickoffs. Driving in from LC, then meeting traffic west of the bridge at 11:00 AM, fighting traffic to get to a parking lot, and waiting to get in, then not have enough time to drink a few beers before the game. Where is the consideration for the fan. Screw day games.

I didn't read all the pages, so apologies if this was already posted. Lazare on TB mentioned that the Athletic Department now has to pay for the Cox building due to the budget cuts, which is 1.4 mil a year. Also that the AD gives back to the university 6 mil a year, which is the most in the SEC.
This isn't about covering parking costs, this is a way to make extra money to cover the costs the university is passing on to the AD.

It's just a matter of time before Lsu makes you pay to tailgate, let me guess russian you are ok with that too?
As i said earlier all LSU has to do is keep it up and they'll ruin this thing that so many people have enjoyed for many years,,, all because of money and greed.

The athletic department has to rent to parking lots from the university. I'm fairly certain it's budget covers clean up costs. The press release pretty clearly states why they're implementing the program. If you don't believe what it says, then nothing anyone else says is going to change your mind.

It's a voluntary activity. No one is forced to go to games. If the costs outweigh the benefits you receive, it's probably a good idea for you to not go to games.

We have a sound system and there isn't a cup or plate that isn't in a trash can when we leave our spot.
Besides, they'll just tailgate where its free and trash that area up.

I'm predicting a group in that situation will eventually figure out they can meet somewhere else, leave a car or two parked in a remote location and carpool to the campus. That would sure help the after game traffic if enough fans would do that.
