You continue to be wrong.
What don't you understand about LSU athletics does not receive a single dollar from the University (this includes its student body's fees, optional or not).

You are implying that LSU students get into games for free, which is not true.
No I am not. I'm implying that LSU students receive a discounted price for admission based on their individual decision to attend LSU football and pay such separately.
No fees are paid to attend minor sporting events for which admission is not always guaranteed. Thus, it is a fee.

Let me restate what I wrote earlier. It is a fee for which the student receives a ticket. It is only $70 per semester.
Do LSU students get into games for free? If not, does that money go to charity, or what?

To the sports listed in the optional student fee at UT, yes.

What part of "optional" are you missing here? You wrote mandatory. There is not a mandatory student athletics fee at The University of Texas, as you originally claimed.

Excuse me, your word was "required," which it is not.

There is a fee that is required of a member of the student body to attend minor sporting events.
Better?
There is no such fee at LSU.

Like I said, The UT athletics department is also self-sufficient, does not receive state funds, and gives back millions to the University. The fact that UT student tickets are not entirely subsidized (or partially, such as in football) by the athletics department like at LSU is irrelevant. Geez.
The athletics department gets the entire Longhorn All-Sports Pass money, the only thing the University does is collect it for them through the Office of the Registrar (for the sake of convenience).

Does the Athletic Department return a portion of the fee if a student is denied admission to a sporting event due to capacity controls?

No, you would still have port-o-lets, but many women would prefer the confines of a real bathroom. Not that much different from places that do this during Mardi Gras along parade routes.

The gentrification continues.
At some point, unknown to me, they will eventually have trouble filling the stadium. I mean, wages are static, costs for essentials are increasing (like food and energy) and therefore discretionary income is decreasing. Granted, if you make $200k plus like everyone on the OT, its not affecting you (yet).
But if you're closer to the US median of $50k for a family of 4, you're really feeling it.
At some point luxury spending gets trimmed.
When I see NFL stadiums full, I wonder if its working class Joes blowing their chance at a decent retirement, or ballin OTers and their ilk paying ridiculous prices for an over-commercialized game experience.
When I made my first trip to Knoxville in 2001, for the LSU-UT game, I was appalled at the parking charges and the prices for tickets ($100/seat for lower bowl, $75/seat for upper deck).
I thought "I hope this never happens to LSU".
It did.
So I watch my beloved Alma Mater on TV, and my splurge is ESPN gameplan @ $120 for the whole season.

Lobby Bobby Jindal to help the budget
For all the rhetoric, I was in a meeting with his Chief of Staff yesterday in which he stated that LSU's money from the state had NOT been cut. It was also interesting that he said that Martin and Skeletor (Lombardi) weren't on the same page as to the direction the BR campus needed to take.
We tailgate on the Parade Grounds (near Golfer) and I will reiterate a couple of things:
-we don't mind paying to park, just let us get a season pass, and make the cost reasonable. Limit those passes to season ticket holders.
-the garbage problem on the PG is the frats who will not contribute another dime. They will continue to have their pledges pack their crap in from the house and dump their garbage just like they are doing now. (somehow they can manage to get sofas and speakers the size of Drake Nevis out there, but never a trash can)
-people who don't want to pay this will pile into the few free spots across Highland that are unaffected and screw people that have used the Law School and Ag Center lots for years. Expect conflicts
-if anyone thinks we will see new bathrooms out of this anytime in the next decade then I want some of what they are drinking
The athletic department is not having budget problems. As noted, they are using all the coverage of budget shortfalls elsewhere to grab more money out of our pockets. Really, $40?

When LSU is raising prices it means we are winning! Keep on raising them!!!

There won't be less traffic. There will be less cars on campus...but the traffic will be much worse since you will have more cars on the perimeter of campus looking for parking spots.

What can be done. Oganize, protest, call state rep, Alleva? We need to get all the tailgate leaders together and do something...prices are just too damn high.

No shite!! They will figure out a way to put their hand in the till, and that will cause the price to go up to $200/game.
fricking crooks.

this was bound to happen. how else can we compete with auburn & alabama. those bags of money that show up at recruits houses don't just appear out of thin air.
think of it as you're making an investment in the future of the football team.

..or worse. They'll pass some BS law that says the AD can't do ANYTHING w/o legislative approval or start siphoning money away from LSU to prop up the ADs at ULL, SLU, SU, etc. (Don't laugh, this has been tried before.)
