I guess we will find out in a few weeks. I wonder how many Tennessee games you’ve watched to be 100%

Undefeated defending national champs with consistent explosive performances- Tennessee has earned the right to defend #1 right now. LSU is working through finding out who they are all while maintaining very high play. Certainly deserving so far of a top 3 ranking. After watching way too much baseball for the last month this is how I see it.

1.Tennessee
2.LSU
3.North Carolina
4.Florida
5.Arkansas

Followed by a mix of Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Texas, and Virginia.

frick D1. Won’t even visit the site anymore. And won’t be acknowledging this poll no matter where we are ranked.

12 SEC teams in each poll. 13 total across the polls (AU and State not in every top 25). That's going to be a brutal run.

Should we be happy that we have 2 of the 3 unranked SEC teams on our schedule?

They played CSUN and he had 4 walks and a HBP in 5.1 IP. Still the same issues there with him through 3 games. He's obviously better than he was last year here but I wouldnt say he's getting any better than where he started this year if he's allowing a free pass an inning still.

From his stat line I can see where you could draw those conclusions.

But I actually watched 2 of his 3 starts. He worked himself out of trouble in the first against CSUN and then had 2 1-2-3 innings. Had a little bit of a blow up in the 4th but made big pitches to limit the damage to 1 run. Was fine in the 5th and then they tried to extend him some more. Got 1 K and then they pulled him after a walk, to get to his longest career outing. The second run he gave up was the reliever letting the walked guy score.

He's absolutely improving every time out. It might not show all the way in the box scores yet, but he's making progress.

Getting Missouri to open SEC play is basically the ultimate layup and 1....and I really hope we dont drop one of those games now

I mean the start before this one he was only able to go 3 innings and took 75 pitches to do so. He only gave away 2 free passes but that had to have been a ton of 2 and 3 ball count ABs he had to have to go 75 pitches to get 9 outs (with only 5 hits). Or just an epic amount of foul balls

It’s early. It doesn’t really matter. But, hey, show some Tiger pride.

Or you could be objective.

My argument against Tennessee would be, go and look at their top 3 opponents vs ours. They don’t even have a 3rd that is comparable bc we had the midweek against DBU. But just throw in North Alabama along with Arizona and OKState.

Their offense produced 17 runs in the 3 games with a step up in competition compared to our 26. And we faced the tougher pitching and it’s not particularly close. 8.6 runs per game vs 5.6

On the pitching side we gave up 14 runs vs their 8 and without trying to be biased we did have 1 extra game on the week than them so I’m not sure how that hampered us.

So in conclusion their pitching has the edge so far on paper but when the competition got harder they came back down to earth on offense while it seems like we excelled.

Good grief! Nearly half of the BA top 25 is SEC teams. Just another year in the SEC.

Exactly, anyone who follows college baseball beyond LSU has seen Tennessee literally miss zero beats to start this season. Their pitching has been elite, their hitting has been elite, they havent been close to losing a game yet either.

Levi Clark who was a 2025 class catcher ranked a little behind Cade Arrambide has hit 5 bombs already mostly from DH spot at .462 on the season. He will be pushing Curiel for SEC FOY.

Gavin Kilen has hit 7 bombs and hitting nearly .500 while he hit 9 bombs in 100 games at Louisville.

Liam Doyle had a near 6 ERA at Ole Miss last year and currently looks like the top pitcher in the country with 34 K's in 14.2 IP.

They are at or near the top of the conference so far in most measurable stats. They should probably drug test that whole team every week

Enjoy the number 1 ranking by D1.
I feel like the Tennessee VolunTEARS should be number 1 right now. I only worry about the polls when it comes down to ranking for the post season. Conference play will work out the rankings and so will Omaha.
It is only March 3 long way to go.

Rankings early in the year in baseball and football just gives fans, sportcasters, podcasters, the internet and media talking points.

The teams you see the first two weeks will look way different come May/June

SEC with 8 teams in the top 12. 12 in the top 25. Has any conferance ever dominated any poll in any sport like that? Jeez.

Rankings don’t mean anything this time of year. Get back to me about 2/3 through SEC play. We play Tennessee so that will be settled then. I think Baseball America’s top 25 is more accurate than D1. Hopefully these boys keep their head down and keep getting better.

Isn’t Tennessee’s park the size of LSU’s softball field? Makes sense.

We may be better, but Tennessee has much higher RPI and is undefeated.

Just for shits and giggles I went back and looked at their last 7 games compared to ours. We are have outscored them 71-53. We are averaging about 2.5 runs more per game. Just found it interesting bc during the last 7 games both teams faced a step up in competition.

They get the attention bc they hit bombs but our style of baseball will play better in the long run.

They also don’t have 1 single guy on the roster that has ever hit .300 or better in the SEC and the second they faced a step up in competition it started to show in their run totals.

Not saying it’s all smoke and mirrors but just something to keep an eye on.

Don’t really care about rankings especially in March but consider me skeptical about their offense, especially once SEC play gets here.

I can’t explain their pitching though. Not sure how they are getting it done
