On SEC Network. Not familiar with our athletes in this sport.

Who are our studs?

The studs are on the LSU diving team.

After 10 years of recruiting and building “his” program, LSU swimming is last in the SEC and sent zero swimmers to NCAA’s this year.

In case you missed it, after 10 years of building his swimming program Dave Gayer has lead LSU swimming to last in the SEC and sent zero Swimmers to NCAA’s. He was handed a program that was 5th in the SEC and look where we are today.

These are the facts. What is Joe Alleva thinking keeping Gayer around? He has lead us to the bottom of the barrel.

Welp we have the worst swimming and diving facility in the SEC, and it's not close. And it would be the worst, or among the worst, in any of the power five conferences.

To put this in perspective, Arkansas has a better swimming facility...and Arkansas doesn't even have a swimming team.

Prior to Gayer we had the worst facility in the SEC and we were 5th in the SEC and scoring over 80 points at NCAA’s with multiple LSU swimmers. And the Diving coach brings in gold medal recruits year after year with the same facility, to keep things in perspective.

But thanks for the excuses.

It's not an excuse. It's an embarrassment. It says 'we don't care' to potential recruits.

That's my position.

Big difference going from coaching age group swimmers to trying to coach college athletes in the SEC. I don’t recall even many of his age group swimmers being all that great. It was a total head scratcher when he was hired.

I don’t know why we don’t shut the program down and start another sport. Not enough instate talent to be relevant and no one wants to drop 20+ million on a new natatorium

If you remember he coached Les’ daughter for years on that age group team. No doubt Les pulled some strings to get him that job, in my opinion. No brained.

Les is gone. The head scratcher is why he still has a job with the current state of the team. Goes back to what you were saying. They don’t care about swimming. I’ve been to some swim meets at the Nat, neither do the students.

None of the SEC swim teams rely on in state talent. They recruit from out of state or out of country. I believe Auburn had one swimmer from Alabama on their whole team last year. Your point is as lame as the excuses for our swim team and their results.

Prior to building the new gymnastics facility LSU had “the” worst gymnastics facility in the whole country, yet we still managed to have one of the premier gymnastics programs in the country. Why? No excuses, just solid coaching and recruiting.

I think what he was trying to say is that because there is zero in state talent, and our facility is garbage, it’s difficult to recruit. What makes it tougher is you have a coach with zero ability to coach top tier talent.

Hiring him was beyond questionable. There are 1000 head age group coaches out there that are 100x better and make next to nothing. Not to mention a lot of assistants working for proven college coaches. But we choose this guy?

If we are not willing or able to 'compete' in the conference...with good/great facilities and coaches, we should drop swimming altogether !

We were “competing “ when LSU handed CDG the keys to the program in 09’. 5th in the SEC is competing. Same old facilities back then. No one was crying. The Diving coach is not crying about the facilities, he is recruiting and producing SEC Champion Divers. The crying and excuses come with failing results. When the administration actually does “care” about swimming, he gone.

Best job in all of LSU Athletics is the Swim Coach. You come out last place and you get a raise.

Chalk another one up to ole Snow Peas Alleva; reigning King of "The Meds."

Unparalleled and now legendary MA.

Trent.
Johnny.
Nikki.
Ed.
Dave.
Aramark. (Jackson)

Didn't hire Shaver and Mainieri, but has kept them around too long. Both have let their programs go into right ascension and declination.

Eddie Nunez found Will Wade.

Educate me on what makes LSU's facility so bad? I swim sometimes at SMU's new 22 million natatorium and its shiny and new but the pool was the same as countless others I have swam in.

The building is old, the locker rooms are not comparable to others in the SEC, the rec center has a better locker room. It’s not climate controlled and it’s misrible for hosting events due to its set up. The pool itself is not the worst. Elite swimmers go to meets at elite facilities, it’s not like they have not seen better nearly everywhere else.
