The Hammond Hammer. Tough as nails tailback, no frills, just button your chinstrap and hit the hole. Made "the catch" against Ole Miss from Bert Jones with no time remaining for the win.

Between this and the AJ Duhe thread, we are officially at "offseason" -
In all seriousness, we should maybe push for some stickied offseason topics - forgotten LSU players of the 60s and 70s, the "Soul Patrol", and all that kind of stuff.
Speaking of the Soul Patrol, how about LSU's career interception leader, "Swift" Chris Williams?

Had a 46-yard TD run against bama in 1971, our only TD.
I think he had a long TD run at Bama in 1972 also - a 35-21 loss.

I had a couple of classes with Brad. Had a wicked sense of humor and liked to party. I went to a few after game parties with him; the Tiger Band parties happened to be next door to the football team parties at Fountainbleau apartments on Highland Road.
He was a good, tough football player and also a good student majoring in pre-dental studies I believe.

unless i catch too much shite from you all, my mission for the offseason, until Spring practice, is to bring these somewhat forgotten players back, both as an appreciation thread, as well as educational to younger fans.

Sounds like a guy who’d take his lunchpale to work and be the first guy in the weightroom and the last guy to leave

Keep them coming.
Memories of my first LSU football game in 1974 vs Tulane...AJ Duhe, Brad Davis, Carl Otis Trimble, Steve Rogers, Billy Broussard, Brad Boyd and a very young Terry Robiskie
...was a good night.

I remember an OL in the 70s. All five of the starters graduated with a degree in a professional career.
John Ed Bradley, Dugas, Rich. I don't recall the other two. All were Attorneys, Veterinarian, Dentists, etc. Bradley was journalist, author.

I worked in the dining hall at Broussard Hall when he was playing. One night he walked in with a hog’s head and put it on his table. He sat down to eat with several other players all acting like that was normal. Crazy guy. Tough. He caught probably the most famous catch in LSU history against Ole Miss.
