Coach says we’ll see more of his match up zone D today they’ve been working on. Tigers are 3.5 point dogs in this one.

LSU 84
St. Louis 78

83-80 LSU.

Mascona made a really good point on his show yesterday. Wade tends to circle one of these early season non conference games that he gets the team up for, and this seems to be that game.

Think back to his first season, Maui Invitational vs Michigan. The next season vs Florida St in Orlando (we lost, but we were up big in that game).

I expect the to see a very focused team today.

The Temple match-up zone when John Cheney was coach was legit when he was there.

I loved chaney so much. His 1-3-1 is the only zone defense I’ve ever liked

Since this thread mentions Cal at UMass I’m obligated to state that Edgar Padilla Jr plays for Illinois.

I’ll take St Louis and the over. I’ll take experience over talent, although I think we’ll score plenty. I’ll believe it when I see it about Wade’s new defense.

I am pulling for LSU and I think that LSU will be a very good team come the end of the year but I think it’s too early in the year to have this team gel.

LSU might keep it close but St Louis pulls away. Days gets in foul trouble early and the scoring dries up.

Idk, I think were better then we looked on d. That team made shots they never make off the bench.they got hot for a bit besides those threes we weren't bad.

I can 100% guarantee you that LSU will have a "lapse" during the course of this game. St. Louis will also have a "lapse." Hell, there may be a few "lapses." Those of us that watch basketball call them runs. It's a fairly common thing in the sport.

Hoping Wade says screw it and runs full court press. We have all these young guards with tons of energy that can come off the bench and play some d. They are not a 7 man rotation anymore. Force teams to play up- tempo and outscore you to beat you.

LSU 84, St Louis 81

The optimist in me (and the comment another poster made of LSU getting up for some of these early season big game matches) says LSU 76 SLU 73.

LSU has proven to be a consistently good offensive team; but I don’t think they get into the 80’s today unless they are just shooting lights out (>50% FG, ~40% 3pt).

SLU is a solid defensive team; but more so they are going to give LSU fits rebounding the ball and limit the Tigers’ chances at 2nd attempts and put backs that Wade’s team has relied on.
