No lie that call by the DEI ump on third was one of the worst I've ever seen. Honestly surprised that the AZ coach didn't get tossed there.

They are definitely getting better as the season progresses

If true this marks a shift from the previous few years where we started well and limped to the finish.

I really hope Beth can finish this season strong and make a good run. I would love for her to succeed.

But....... The program has been trending downward for some time. We made the CWS in 4 of Beth's first 6 years but have not been back since 2017.

And in the last four years we've lost in the regional 3 times, making the Super Regional only once in that period.

That's a program trending down, while several teams in the conference you were once ahead of passing you by.

Who has passed them by that wasn’t already better? Florida, Tennessee, Bama have always been better, Oklahoma the best in the country for a long time, Texas always equal to or better than LSU. A&M ? Lost in a regional as the number 1 seed last yr. The program took a dip no doubt however recruiting has been on the upswing with highly recruited players coming in the next 2 yrs. Players Oklahoma, Florida, Texas and Tennessee offered. Heavener and Cellura are getting better and both return, only grads of note are catcher and CF..the program is on the upswing!

The game should have been over up 2-0 bases loaded 1 out and Tori Edwards grounds into routine double play. T6 they had shockey on 3rd and runner on 1st 1 out ball hit hard right back to Heavener and instead of going to 2nd to start a easy double play she glances at shockey who is half way and then throws it to first to get a out. Bergeon gets hurt on the play so Lorenz came into catch and McKee to left, ball is hit to McKee and she dives in front of her and ball gets away for 2 runs.. that’s how the final was 4-2. We had them on the ropes until Tori Edwards gets jammed again and hits soft ground ball for double play.

Smoked the ball into double plays like 3 times. Maci looked like she walking fine so hopefully not a longterm injury.

Hope so, she starting to hit ball hard again!! They did hit the ball hard today but the key ab was Tori and you just can’t get jammed by 63

Why is LSU playing a weekend series against a Big 12 team in the middle of conference play?

Currently 6-9 in the SEC but South Carolina, Auburn, Kentucky, and Ole Miss are all sorry arse this season. I don’t know who we have left to play but maybe we can get to .500.

*Okay I see we have series’ against Ole Miss and Auburn so we have a chance to make up some ground there.

SEC and Big 12 both have an odd number of softball teams, so in each league, each team gets a bye week. Ours and theirs happened to match up, so we played each other.

Most teams would have limped to the finish with LSU's schedule at the end last year.

FInal 4 SEC series:

@ Texas A&M. Ended up being the #1 overall seed in NCAA
@ Texas. Ended up winning the national title
Florida. Ended up in the WCWS
@ Arkansas. Ended up as top 8 national seed.

So I don't think anyone at LSU softball will be apologizing for finishing with Ole Miss and Auburn this year who are both 2-13 in the league.

Depends on expectations, I think they are a yr or 2 away from a real chance. The next classes are really good and should give us a chance to get back to OKC!! I know ppl say we have recruited well and I would ask where are they ? They have transfers at SS,3rd, LF, CF, DP and 3 of the top 4 pitchers, where are the kids that transferred out? Berzon rarely pitches at OU and you don’t hear anything about all the other transfer position players. The fact is recruiting has been substandard for a while now, the next 2 classes have kids recruited by the top schools in the country. IMO, the next 2 yrs will tell us whether Beth receives a extension or the contract is allowed to run out in 28

I think Heavener is really good and I think Cellura is pretty good and I think they can win you a decent amount of games, but I would like to see Beth find a way to get a pitching beast out of the portal.

I have no idea how much money she has at her fingertips to get this done. I know they almost had Kelly Maxwell a couple years ago until OU swept in with their bag of gold. I hope they can get someone to pair with Heavener and be co-aces.

I really thought the offensive portal pickups were going to work well, but Lorenz and Hutchins have both gone bust for the most part. Kylee Edwards has been beyond what anyone could have hoped.

Also play @ Mississippi State who is 6-9 (same record as LSU). Maybe they can sweep Auburn & OM & win 2/3 vs the Bulldogs. That would put them at 14-10 headed to the SEC tourney. They have the pitching to go on a little win streak here.

That series could be tricky on the road. State has some pretty good pitching. Their ace had a 2-hit shutout vs Arkansas over the weekend...but then they gave up 8 and 10 the next 2 days.

LSU should finish 7-2 bare minimum in the 9 remaining SEC games. That should be plenty good enough to host a regional as somewhere around and 11 or 12 seed.

Yeah, Lorenz is a first yr player on a big stage so I kinda classify her as a freshman, I generally think transfers are boom are bust! Looking at others around the country that generally do very well or very poorly. Hopefully in yr 2 they will be better. The biggest difference this yr vs last is the AA hitters haven’t performed at close to the same level. For example, Edwards had a huge chance to put the game out of reach yesterday but hit into double play. That’s the difference between winning and losing
