I've said numerous times on this board regarding baseball, which LSU has even higher expectations, that making a super should be the goal. Once you are playing a 3 game set against another really good team so many things can tip the scales one way or the other. You, being the coach you claim to be, should understand this better than anybody.
I'm not even a big Beth defender. I prioritize watching LSU baseball over softball, so there are a number of games I missed. I simply pointed out that you only show up when LSU loses with the same tired argument every single time, and you got your feelings all hurt.

What did I say that was pro beth? You've actually been more pro Beth in this thread than me. You said this is the worst LSU roster, yet LSU is in a pretty solid spot. That has to mean Beth is doing a tremendous job doesn't it? Certainly you can't have a poor roster, with poor coaching, and be a national seed.

Beth coaches pitching, Neal coaches hitting, Simmons is outfield defense, I would say 1 of the 3 or maybe 2 has done a great job. I’ll remind you, they scored 7 twice vs A&M no wins, had the lead vs Texas going to the 6th all 3 games and won 1, scored 9 vs Arkansas and lost. It’s obvious who has done a good job and who hasn’t

What’s unique about LSU that a coach only good enough to earn $275K could succeed at LSU over another school?

Yall can debate back and forth. The bottom line is Beth will NEVER win a national championship at LSU. So what does Woody do? Keep the status quo or spend money and get a good coach?

Beth coaches pitching
She's the head coach. Even if her hands are more in pitching, and not as much in hitting, she gets credit for hiring her staff. You don't just get to cherry pick the bad and blame it on Torina, and then the good and give all that credit to another coach.

What’s unique about LSU? Come on bruh, it’s a top 5 brand in college sports, women sports are elite, football is elite.. a lot of money, facilities..

I've coached ZERO baseball games in my career.
I just think Beth can't take us to a National Championship. That should be the goal for every sport at LSU. She's had her opportunties.
As for just posting when they are losing, that is usually the case for everyone on a message board. When you win, there is not much to say, but if you lose every one has a opinion on why they lost. This isn't so much about softball. It's every sport.
If I post in a football, basketball, or baseball thread, 3 or 4 people have posted the same thing before I click "submit". Softball is a little different, not that many posters.

Typically I would agree but hitting has been sub standard around here for a long time, a new guy comes in and 1 yr turns it around.. Beth gets credit for the hiring the dude for sure but zero credit for anything related to hitting.. she is clueless about hitting

So that’s why LSU consistently finishes in the Top 16 in swimming, tennis, women’s golf, volleyball, soccer, cross country, and men’s basketball?

Or wins nattys in women’s basketball and gymnastics with the biggest women stars in the country?

Track, gymnastics, and basketball are the only women’s sports teams that have ever won national championships. It’s not a birthright that LSU should win titles in every sport.

Im talking getting to the WS say 1 out every 3 yrs, surely that’s reasonable, no WS in 8 yrs is unacceptable

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but not many people are winning national championships in softball that aren't named Oklahoma.

In Women's sports, very few people care about tennis, golf (didn't they win a natty or was it the boy's team?), Soccer, Swimming, or Volleyball.
When was the last time a thread was started in any of those sports or even a final score in the last 25 years?
They care about Basketball, Softball, and Gymnastics in that order. Which sport is the "odd" man out in terms of Championships?
Look, I don't care if they keep Beth this year (They will). I'm just saying, she's had her opportunities and I think she reached her peak about 10 - 12 years ago. If everyone is fine with winning regionals, great.

The ship sailed to fire Torina after her recent extension. LSU is not going to pay that buyout when she has the program a regional host.
I would love her to hire a pitching coach this off season. The new blood around the program has been pretty positive though.
Feels pretty obvious LSU wasted some talented rosters not developing the bats but that’s changed, so I can’t complain too much.

Zero chance Torina would hire a pitching coach

Beth Torina is "Mediocrity" defined.
She's not that great and not that bad.
Mediocrity is "Good Enough" for many on here and in the LSU fan base.
It's also "Not Good Enough" for me and other "Competitive" people that have actually played a little organized team sports.
Torina is absolutely "Softball Nikki." (Fargas) She should have been fired several years ago but keeps hanging on well past the expiration date.
Patty Gasso (Softball Kim Mulkey) has done everything she can do at Oklahoma. Maybe she would want a new challenge. Throw the bank at her and get her in here. LSU deserves a HC that can elevate the program to the next level......(I also like Lonni Alameda at Florida State and Mike White at Texas)

LSU has won titles in 7 of the 18 sports they currently sponsor and only 3 of 10 women’s sports. Of those 7, only 6 compete consistently at the level of the softball team. 12 of 18 don’t just roll out the LSU name and win as you claim.
You do realize the examples you chose don’t support your argument, right? They overpaid for Mulkey. They didn’t go out and get a bargain bin coach. The LSU name alone didn’t buy the program success before that.
Gymnastics is an example of sticking with a consistently successful coach who wasn’t able to get over the hump to win a title, but built a sustainable program that paved the way for eventual triumph. Had they cut bait and hired a bargain bin coach, that never would have happened.
