Sampson isn't starting now. Why would anyone think he will start next year.
Sampson has started 7 games this year (1 pretty recently). Onwuasor is leaving who started 10 games. Edwards is the other guy there and him and Sampson have pretty much the same playing time overall. KEep in mind we have no idea how much Sampson still may be affected by his injury, which could limit playing time. He started out the year as the starter and looked extremely good. There's no questioning he's by far the most talented wing on this team. Edwards a pure SG they've played at the 3 out of necessity mostly, he doesnt bring a lot to the table other than his 3 point shot. I know some think he's a good defender, but the numbers do not bear that out.
Sampson just brings a more versatile player there, with more length at 6'5 vs. 6'3. There's definitely a reason Sampson hit the ground running as the starter this season. Again, at this point not sure how much of it is effort vs. injury holding him back.
Also, highly doubt we start all 3 point guards, Wade always wants 2 out there so again, not sure why you start all 3 so they fatigue at the same rate to the point you might have to put 2 on the bench at once. Makes more sense to rotate the 3 of them at the 1 and 2 repeatedly. By doing that, you keep all 3 very fresh.

Sampson will not come close to starting next year. He's a risk on defense. Will be a nice guy to have coming off the bench to bring energy and shoot the 3, but other than that, no chance of starting.

Statistically he's better than Edwards on the defensive end.
And not sure how you can say he wont come close to starting next year, he was a starter this year out the gate, he will also be a senior and the only true wing on the team short of us getting a JUCO/transfer.

and you maybe underestimating Tremont who has shown incredible passing ability and BB IQ to run the team. If Smart can hit threes he will be the recipient of that talent and take Mays place. But Mays has grown to be a good defensive player and rebounder and if we know one thing it is that if you don't play defense then you don't play for Will Wade.
And don't forget Darryl Edwards who has gone from just being a three ball threat to a tough driver and defender also. There will be a lot of competition for playing time at the three guard slots.
With the new recruits we will also be able to go big at times with two guards.

Right now it looks like we'll grab a JUCO PF and save the last one for a transfer.
WW has said he’s looking around for one or two more big men. Perhaps waiting in the wings for a current player to leave????

Smart is one of the best HS basketball players in Louisiana history. Going to be special.

We have technically 2 more spots to fill as it is:
1. Waters
2. Mays
3. Sampson
4. Sims
5. Edwards
6. Rachal
7. Bigby-Williams
8. Williams
9. Days
10. Smart
11. Reid
So we have 2 more spots to fill. Alexander is permanently gone, Kiir there's a "Chance" he could come back but latest I heard was that's unlikely. So we're definitely going to fill both spots IMO. If Sampson leaves, it would be 3 to fill.
The great part about that is we can add 1 JUCO then save the last 2 spots for transfers. Just so many quality transfers each year in basketball.

Rebounding simply won't be needed by much of anyone els
I think we need as many offensive rebounders on the court as possible. That’s a facet of the game that we’ve been really poor at this year, and it’s driven WW nuts. Teams that are effective at offensive rebounding have been killing us. It doesn’t have to be just bigs doing it, but we need a bigger presence for sure.

Pretty sure he’s not coming back. Too much negative stuff off the court and not enough effort, which is too bad. He’s a big that can move his feet as a post player, which is something that Epps doesn’t do unfortunately.

Wade has said numerous times that Edwards is his best on ball defender. He has singled out Sampson for not having the desire to defend. Don't get it twisted. We are pulling for Brandon, however he will be down on the depth chart.

Days, Reid and Williams are among the top rebounders in the country coming in. Bigby-Williams obviously a top JUCO rebounder.
This has me giddy.
We need tough rebounding badly this year and we're getting an elite rebounding class coming in.

Basketball recruiting thread has LSU after a juco PF.
Not sure of the accuracy.

Best player to ever play in Louisiana at PG. Future Hall of Famer.
Never seen such am immense talent. He literally can shoot with the lights off and pass with foresight knowing where the player is before he even knows he is there.
Uncanny leadership never before seen at the high school level in Louisiana. His crossover literally is a liability to those guarding him as their ankles crack keeping up.
His sweat is like holy water and quenches your thirst just at the sight if you are a teammate.
He speaks in tongues on the court as holy as the ground is he dribbles on.
Never before seen. Best GOAT eva.

Parker Edwards is going to show him on Saturday who the best shooter in the state is.
Posted on 3/8/18 at 5:45 pm to tigerskin
Boom - Parker can knock down the outside shot better than anybody in the state and St Paul's has some bigs on the inside that are going to knock the snot out of Scotlandville.
Smart may go down as a loser in his last high school game.

Sampson going pro ? Have you seen the list of early entrants, much less seniors graduating , & overseas players coming ? I wish for his sake it weren't true , but he doesn't stand a chance of playing in the NBA.
