the program has always had most of their players from out of state
For a while they had a lot of Canadian players out of Praire Baseball Academy

For the championship....correct?
Posted on 5/29/25 at 11:52 am to Slammy
Few different scenarios
if LSUS wins they will go to the championship and would need to win one out of two to win it all
If SEU wins the game before today, then LSUS is in the championship no matter what but if LSUS loses, the championship is a winner take all
if SEU loses before LSUS game tonight then LSUS is still alive, they just need to win one more to go to the championship

Am I correct in assuming that there's already MLB talent on this Pilots team? I don't have a lot of experience in projecting NAIA dominance and how that translates to professional ball.

There is a ton and I mean a TON of experience with most starters having 3-5 years of starting experience.
They have essentially maxed out their abilities and are a seasoned, mature group that really knows what they're doing so they don't make mistakes and they don't get rattled.
Rhode, their ace, is a crafty lefty who throws mid to upper 80's and pounds the zone, mixes pitches, speeds, arm slot and has a rubber arm capable of pitching with little rest

Yes, I had 2 LSUS Canadian players as my middle school and high school coach at Byrd, whose field is right next to LSUS's. Hated both of them. 2nd one led to me quitting as he sucked so bad. Along with like 10 others players quitting too. He ended up getting fired from Byrd I think as he was such a Dbag.

I am not familiar with a lot of this year's LSUS team but some of their starters have been there for 3-4 years. A few years ago whenever I played against them their starting SS was a Texas Longhorn transfer. They had an outfielder who was a Miami Hurricanes transfer and their starting rotation was 1. 93-95 RHP with Slider/Change. 2. 90-92 LHP with a 12/6 curve, and sweeping fastball. 3. High 80s righty who threw a splitter/slider majority of the time and mixed in a changeup.
Southeastern Flames, who are one of the last 4 remaining teams had a guy throwing 99-101 last year. He is not there this year.
NAIA has a lot of talent in the top 30 teams. Either ineligible for D1 because of Academics, unnoticed late developers, got in trouble at a D1, or guys who signed pro out of high school and then got cut can come back to NAIA. (That was more popular when the draft had 40 rounds tho).
Anyone who says high school teams in Louisiana could beat these teams are absolutely clueless on some of the talent in the multiple divisions of college sports especially baseball which does not always have to deal with athleticism.

Thanks. That was very informative.

So yea, when I say the team is experienced, I can't underscore it enough

LSUS has now made it to the championship game regardless of what happens in their game tonight now that SEU has beaten Georgia Gwinnett
