sounds about right for college kids having fun. Nothing new here that does not go on at the 220 campuses on game day.

some do once it's explained to them. others are either too narrow-minded to see past their own preconceived notions of right and wrong or they just like the rush of feeling offended about something, even this.

Well, manwich, we'll just have disagree. I don't think the guy in the picture who complained is being hypersensitive. I don't think my supporting him and commenting when several people called him "whiney", "fggt" or whatever was being hypersensitive either. I think it is good for the university to hear an opposing point of view on this topic especially given the viewpoints of several professors I've had over the years. Take care.

FACT: Everyone upset about this is a Christian, and only arguing because it was THEIR religion that got airbrushed out. The same people would be applauding LSU if it were Muslim symbols or Swastikas.

" ... Sorry, were you offended? .. "

well, yes, I am offended, frankly - every time some proselytizes their personal religious beliefs in public places .. keep it to yourself, and don't demonstrate your ignorance ..

Regardless of what the "right" or "wrong" of this issue is, the LSU marketing group is full of a bunch of extra chromosomes. They airbrush out religious symbols, but I find Toonces far more offensive.
Seriously, LSU marketing. I know you are reading this (those of you who are literate). Look at this:
Look at that. That is hideous. How could you possibly continue to use that logo for merchandise and marketing? Do you people have college degrees or is kindergarten finger painting the only requirement to get a job there? Kill yourselves.

One more thing - FACT: everything labled as "FACT" in a post is not necessarily a "FACT". Sorry, I just couldn't help it.

The kids have a right to include the Cross as representation of themselves if they wish. LSU has the right to show the pic or not show the pic. But they chose a pic knowing they would have to air brush out a religious symbol.... Thats poor judgement on their part. I understand not wanting to show ANY religious affiliation, but they had to know it would cause a stink on some level no matter the religion. They brought this on themselves IMO

I'm pretty sure those guys have root beer keg parties. Dead serious.

Pretty sure that last years schedule poster has a line calling Tiger Stadium a "cathedral of college football" and "worship happens here".
So regardless of your personal feeling on it, it's selective use and then suppression of religious items.
It's stupid. Just pick a different photo

Holden, I tend to agree that LSU's actions don't constitute censorship. LSU wasn't interfering with or abridging the students' communication. Rather, it was simply exercising its contractual right to control its own communications, namely its formal promotional e-mail. It's not difficult to reconstruct the thought process of the university. As is their right, they chose a picture from Tiger Stadium to use in a promotional e-mail. They justifiably concluded that an official dispatch from a state funded university should not include the symbols of any one given religion. They exercised their contractual right to airbrush the photo. It's not really that controversial. They are merely tailoring their own communications in a way that is consistent with their understanding of their obligations as a state university. The students are acting like vages. JMO.
This - not a case of censorship but simply LSU choosing how it wants to represent itself.
Posted on 10/18/12 at 1:35 pm to mr. penguin
Why couldn't LSU just another image that didn't need doctoring? If the picture is suppose to represent the atmosphere at LSU there shouldn't be a need to add or remove anything from the photo.

Fox News should be here shortly to cover the war on Christians
Hey guys, I'm the leader of the Painted Posse. I wanted to clear a few things up. Yes many of us do post on here. No we are not upset with LSU. We knew why they did it. Was it warrented? Probably not. Our likeness has been used countless times, the cross never being edited. Did LSU have the right to? yes. Were we dissappointed? Yes. Did we make a big deal of it? No. The media came to us on every occasion. In fact we've made a point to talk to the Athletic Department about the whole situation. The only reason we even agreed to do any form of broadcast or interview was to make Christ's name known. We said nothing harmful to the university, ourselves, the players, or other Tiger fans. In fact we are possibly the most dedicated Tiger fans you will meet. Say or think what you want, but our consciences are clear. We have done our part and will continue to do so!

We love LSU, but we love Jesus Christ more.

I'm not religious or upset but I think LSU fricked up on this one.
