I was expecting Oregon to rise even higher than 8 ...

we easily hop Oregon back if we win on the road at Alabama ...

That said, after watching Oregon last night, I think Oregon is the best team in the country right now.

But,,,,but,,,but

Mark May says the Coaches poll shouldn't matter. THey cannot have the time to watch all the games.

Oregon looks good, but I think USC is seriously overrated, especially on defense. Oregon's victory over USC is not as impressive of a victory as LSU beating Bama would be.

As for Iowa, that team should not even be in the top 10. I watched the entire game between Iowa and Indiana, and, despite the final score, Iowa was dominated the first 3 quarters. Had the refs not blown a call on a TD reception by IU, then the Hoosiers would have gone up 28-7 midway through the 3rd and the game probably would have been over.

Interesting that there is only 120 points seperating #4 and #9 ...

It's basically a big jumbled mess from 4 to 10.

So here is the conference breakdown for teams in the top 25:

Pac 10 = 4
Big Ten = 4
ACC = 3
SEC = 3
Big 12 = 3
Big East = 2
Wac = 1
MWC = 3
Ind. = 1 (ND)
C-USA = 1

Man this poll is garbage.

My ten year old just said "what? Oregon didn't even gain a first down against Boise in the first half. They got drummed. We lost to the no 1 team in the country and they are ahead of us? Are they stupid?"

got to appreciate when a ten year old has more common sense than the coaches in the poll.

And this is what is important, not the ranking itself. If this continues, the computers will play a more important role in separating the teams. I think they will like an LSU victory over Bama and UF (assuming both happen).

The rankings for this season are a joke. TCU, Iowa, Oregon, Boise, and Cincinnati will never win the BCS.

I hope you don't mean a BCS game because

What do you guys think of this:

Oregon beating USC was bad for us (in the "we win out" scenario).

If USC HAD won out...

With USC and LSU having one loss, we would be able to argue:

1) We avenged our one relatively close loss
2) We beat a team that beat them

Now with Oregon, the arguments might get uglier:

1) Oregon smoked the same team we beat by one score
2) Undefeated Boise St. beat Oregon

So, Oregon would have an argument AND Boise...

We still probably get the cred we need if we win out, but...

Oregon deserves better. Does anyone in the top 10 have as impressive victory (blowout) than the Ducks?

Coaches poll just confirms we need a playoff in college football.

No they don't. The idiocy on this board is astounding. SEC snobs have become the dregs of the college football world. It's so old listening to the tired arguments. Accordingly, why don't we just declare the SEC champion the MNC every year. Or maybe we can swear the BCS is legitimate because it does what it's designed to do: Put an SEC team in the BCS championship.

In a playoff world, Oregon would spank LSU and leave the SEC homers clinging to the last remaining shreds of imaginary dominance.

Try actually paying attention to what's going on outside the SEC. The blind allegiance renders you retarded.
