My dad listens to the radio broadcast in the stadium. He was complaining about a delay in the broadcast. He let me listen and it was about a 2 sec delay. Doesn't sound like a lot but on some plays the play would be ending and the play would just be starting on the radio.

My dad said there has never been a delay before and he is using the same iPod he has the last few years.

Anybody else experience this Saturday night?

Maybe there is. I don't know because I never listen to it. I always heard the radio broadcast is always ahead of TV broadcast. But it was my understanding that the radio broadcast was really close to live play as far as timing goes. But my dad was saying he never had this big of a delay or any delay noticeable before.

On one play the radio broadcast was finishing up an advertisement and we were snapping the ball.

Radio is live unless intentionally delayed at the station. Some producers use a delay for live broadcast in case the crowd mics pick up something they want to mute, like profanity from the student section for example. I used to work in radio. We didn't delay live sports, but we did delay all live call-in shows by a few seconds. The remote equipment used to transmit the signal from the stadium to the station may have a slight delay depending on the uplink and type, but if there hasn't been a delay before then I doubt that's the issue (unless they've changed equipment).

I listen to every game on the radio in the stadium and have used the same MP3 player for about eight years now. Last Saturday night, there was definitely a delay, and it is the first time I can remember one.

Yes, it was annoying.

Maybe they were late sending in the signal.

This sounds like a great idea, considering how the shitty piped in music seems to be increasing every year.

I saw where some Alabama fans were discussing the same thing about radio in their stadium, and they said the only way to avoid the delay was to buy one of the radios they sell at the stadium.

I'm not savvy enough to know how or why this would make any difference, just relaying what they said. Maybe get in touch with the folks at the LSU radio network and run it past them?

I tweeted Chris Blair and he responded that he is going to try and find out what the issue is.

One second delay while listening to 98.1 using a very small armband Sony radio. I don't find it annoying as I keep one ear free.

Was this ever fixed? Anyone still experiencing a broadcast delay while listening in the stadium?
