With a typical LSU defense, Mett might've won a national title

This shut up all the comparison between JJ and AJ. Hopefully the ranters will actually read this.

That's woulda shoulda coulda talk. You have no proof that ZM8 would have changed the tide of the '11 campaign and its rather pathetic that some of you try to make this assumption. Still unable to let the BCSNG go....

Ok, with ZM we'd had better chance.
Duh.

It's hard to let such an abortion of a football game go that we lost to our our biggest rival.
In our state.
For the NC.
Against our former coach.

I'm a huge Mett supporter, but I sincerely doubt we would have won the NC with him in 2011. Mett struggled his first 8 games into the season in 2012. Both the Oregon and West Virginia games would have been toss ups at best for us with a first year Mett at the helm. An opener against a top 3 team and a primetime road game at a top 15 team, both of which who won their BCS bowl games. Doubtful he would have won both of those, much less the "game of the century."

There is no reason I should hate this thread by page 2.

Nailed it.

One game out of the '11 campaign our team didn't show up. Unfortunately for us it was the BCSNG.

How's that possible?

How do you not show up for the national fricking championship game.
In New Orleans.
Playing Alabama.

It happens.

Fwiw, our defense actually played pretty well that night. They were just on the field entirely too much and finally broke in the 4th quarter.

The offense looked like they didn'twant to be there at all. I don't think ZM8 could have changed the outcome of the events that evening.

Sure couldn't have hurt.

JJ starting after his SECCG showing will still be one of the biggest mysteries of all time in LSU sports.

Lee or Mett not getting a single snap in that game is also on the list of mysteries. Not a single drive for Lee? Really?

The six quarters from the start of the SECCG to halftime of the BCSNCG may be the worst six consecutive quarters ever played by an LSU QB. The fact no one else got a shot, hell..even a walk on...is mind boggling. Sometimes you just need new blood.

Back to the subject at hand, it has been a pleasure watching Mett mature into the wonderful QB and man that he now is. Mett, you've made us proud.

Like someone said, very tough guy never complained and set records here at LSU. With a decent D we are in a bcs game at the very least. Here's to Zachs future and 100% recovery

I don't get why people say this...the team played hard and was only down by 9 in the fourth qtr....fact is we had bad qb play and a bad offensive game plan.....the d played their asses off , they were just on the field too long...and no way was mett ready to come into that game....now if we had cam there at the start of the season to coach him up then maybe he would have had a shot...
