LSU QB "type"

I wish Ryan P would have given himself a full opportunity at LSU, because I think He might have turned out to be the ultimate prototype LSU QB. Sadly, he did not cooperate and serve himself, so we'll never know.
Of course, facts bear out the Mauck and Flynn style. Decent runner, good game manager, adequate arm, decent field vision, etc...
Now, it appears, although we time will tell, that Burrow has very similar style and skills.
So, assuming he wins the job and raises LSU's offense to contender or championship level.
Is there any doubt on the formula LSU recruiting should pursue for the QB position?
There are many great HS's all over the country, so can't they scour the country with ONLY this type of QB in mind, and build an identity of our offense around it?
If not, why not?

I love how one backup QB magically fixes all of the other holes in the offense

A bad QB harms and makes weak otherwise strong areas of an offense (Leonard running into brick wall against Bama because no passing game), but a good QB will create opportunities and open up otherwise limited portions of an offense. I mean, I get the whole "He hasn't even seen the field" thing, but it's actually true...so long as Burrow is that good.

So if a QB who wants to commit to LSU is better than “decent” or “adequate” in one of those areas we should tell him what? “No thanks. You’re over qualified”?

The only hole was QB.
Sure we dont have a LF7 but our RBs are solid and our WRs are very talented. The OL is deep and talented as well.
We were worried about those spots because they were going to have to carry the QB but thats not the case anymore so we are no longer worried about those positions.

What about the WW1 Veteran running the offense?

If this guy isn't at least in the conversation for All SEC, this place is going to be priceless. I hope he wins the Heisman, but the hype he's getting relative to his experience is amazing to me.

You mean the guy that has received nothing but praise from his peers about his football IQ?
He did a good job in 2016 so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.
Sorry you are determined to be sour about LSU football but things are definitely better than they were 2 months ago.

I mean the guy that didn't even want the fricking job

Dude, what is your problem and why do you insist on being one of those Jackasses that has to constantly $hit on everything to do with the LSU Football program?
Seriously, are you just a miserable Son of a B!tch or are you just off your meds?

Every school wants a qb that can run and pass.

I used to think that a "game manager" type was perfectly fine. Plenty of teams have won championships with them over the years.
I'm of the other mindset now. It takes a playmaker. That doesn't necessarily mean a dual-threat, but that is indeed the shortest path to a playmaker.
A) makes up for deficiencies other places on the offense, somewhat
B) practices are limited. your execution will always be flawed. Having a man that can adapt, on the fly, that has the ball in his hands every play is valuable.
C) there is a certain psychological "swag" element here. Whether that is running the score up on somebody or getting sportscenter top-10 plays every week it translates into: confidence. A QBs best friend.

Brennan has also stated that he'll hang around, so the "Killer Bee's" will offer the best 1-2 QB punch that LSU hasn't had in a long time.
You're correct though in that he certainly doesn't fix the massive pothole that's been getting larger for the last five years on Offensive Line Boulevard that the LSU "Sewerage and Water Board" refuses to fix!
Just hope that they (

Hope is all there is, because SEC Championship caliber talent aint there across the board in all 5 starters and back-up's.
Despite all the OL cheerleading being spewed out from the clueless kiddie's on the Rant Diaper Brigade, the OL problems will be seen and play out during the course of the season. It will be the biggest and most visible pothole on the team...…...
