That's like saying the Hindenberg had some severe technical difficulties. while true, it doesn't quite touch how truly putrid Melvin Hill was.

Probably what has made them "look so bad" in addition to really looking bad in the first place was how badly LSU played that night in Lexington.

If you look at the score and year, 24-16 in that time frame in and of itself wasn't the end of the world. It wasn't on 'free tv' but may have been on Tigervision.Jamie Howard had gotten hurt late in the Florida game the week before and didn't dress. Melvin Hill got his one and only start.LSU only got 202 total yards and the only td was a 66 yd Pat Rogers inteception return.Twice inside the UK 20 and once at the 5 even LSU recovered fumbles but could only get two field goals out of it. That wasn't a good Kentucky team, either. They were Vandy's first win a few weeks later after having started out 0-7.

With that said if we ever lose in football to one of these in-state goobers for the following conference home game we should have to wear white helmets, gold jersey and purple pants and the coaching staff should have to wear grey or black slacks with white short sleeve shirts and ties.

I think, in all the hideousness that was 90s LSU football, the only time I felt a total and utter sense of hopelessness was knowing LSU had to face Florida on the road with true freshman Melvin Hill as our starting QB.

Not so much that we'd get skulldragged in that game, which we did, but that our best option was true freshman Melvin Hill.

Dinardo and LSU were ahead of the curve.
LSU was Oregon unis before Oregon unis became so popular

Florida was #1 that day. We would have lost to them that day with Bert Jones in his prime.

IMO, that was one of the stranger Hallman decisions that kind of made sense the more you thought about it.There was an off week after the infamous Auburn debacle and if you recall the staff really handcuffed Howard vs South Carolina the next game. They hardly let him thrown anything over 10 yds.

Florida was going to win big anyway. After Hill got one of his passes picked and run back 70 yds or so, Howard came in and actually played pretty well.

As glad as I was to see Hallman get fired, the shame of the '94 team is they were oh,so close to being a good team. But they just never seemed to recover from that AU game.

They were actually good looking...the 2 problems: 1) We lost the game 2) No stripe

they're not as bad as everyone makes them out to be but i like the white and gold better. but your 1 & 2 are dead on.

way better than gold pants imo.

I always think LSU has a chance, but didn't that day.

ugh, was this the one we lost like 18-17 in a torrential downpour? I've never been that soaked to the bone at a game in my life. And, again, when the clock was winding down and we were trying to drive for a FG, I began to get that utter sense of hopelessness. It carried over to the FU game.

Yea, 18-17. All things considered it was a pretty decent crowd that night. Under 70,000 but incredibly supportive of Howard. We scored on our first drive but then just ran in place the rest of the game.

That team was just snakebit. About a month later for the Alabama game at home, Howard lost the ball on a snap and some Tide LB, Sam Shade maybe? turned around and saw it in the air right by him like "hey, look at this" and just walked in the endzone.

The purple pants are hideous and they are cursed. Purple pants= losses and should be retired forever.

i was at the "pass, jamie, pass" game at Auburn. had to tailgate with a bunch of Auburn fans after the game. brutal.

but, I was determined to make it to the USC game the next week (I lived in TX) to support Howard and the team. Just an awful, awful year. Mostly, as you stated, because this team could have been better. Certainly the W/L could have been.

Wasn't it James Gilyard with that interception for TD?

Was that the game in the pouring rain? I was there that night, and we could not stop Steve Tanneyhill...ZERO pressure on the QB! and in a monsoon, no less.

Now this kind of stupidity I cannot tolerate. As if wearing a particular garment over another indicates bad luck and poor play. Give me a break.

Purple Pants and Purple Jerseys are not fricking bad luck. There's much more to point the finger at in those losses while wearing purple than just the damn uniform...try poor coaching, poor play by the ATHLETES inside of those uniforms, and poor conditions (like the South Carolina game...although to a much lesser extent.)

That kind of logic would indicate that white jerseys are bad luck because we lost to Florida in '03 or Arkansas in '07.

IMO we should wear purple more often. At least when we play Auburn at Home...as well as our lesser SEC opponents.

I remember walking into Murphy's (RIP) one night and seeing the biggest human being with the biggest traps I'd ever seen. It was good old Gabe. CSB, I know.

I've always said we need to do an all purple type uni...similar to the fashion of the all greens that Oregon wears.

I am likely incorrect in my memories, but it also seems as though we wore both purple pants and jersey's one game too.

I'd like to see the gold jerseys and purple pants appear...

If I recall correctly, didn't UK where blue jerseys and blue pants that night? It looked like a high school games with those uniforms.
