Ohhhh, looks like somebody got a Word-A-Day calendar for Christmas and isn't afraid to use it.
Like ESPN, the Selection Committee hates LSU.
Ingram still suffering from lingering case of vaginitis. Strong doses of Midol are apparently having little effect.
If Arkansas holds on, LSU will have beaten the winners of the Music City, ChikFilA, Gator, Cotton, Orange, and Rose Bowls. Anyone know if that's ever been done before?

Do they always play that?

Start of 4Q at Tenn

Posted by Esta on 10/17/11 at 11:43 am
Does anybody know if that is the traditional music played at Neyland at the end of the 3Q start of the 4Q? They played a dirge-like, funereal Kenny Chesney ballad while showing a video montage of teams from the past. If there had been any life in the stadium at that point, it surely would have be sucked out by that.

Is this a full sized Chuck Norris, or a miniature Chuck Norris?

When Do New Rankings Come Out?

Are they waiting until all week 1 games are played?
Creating a "new tradition" = giving yourself a nickname. Can't do it.

If I recall correctly, didn't UK where blue jerseys and blue pants that night? It looked like a high school games with those uniforms.

Is there an NFL draft if there is a lockout?

Posted by Esta on 1/18/11 at 11:19 am
What happens to the draft if the CBA expires at the end of March? Can underclassmen change their minds? Will they get drafted and then be unable to sign, and pretty much be stuck for a year?
Make sure the Cannon stuff was real.

re: Schedule Change to Fix the BCS

Posted by Esta on 12/21/10 at 2:08 pm to
I realize the schedule change wouldn't cure all the ills, but it would give everyone more common opponents to help make comparisons, and it would make for very entertaining cross-conference games. Almost like mid-season bowl games. Look at some of the matchups for next year (just using the SEC, Pac 10, Big 10, and Big 12):

SEC-Pac 10-Big 10-Big 12
Auburn-Oregon-Wisc-Oklahoma
Arkansas-Stanford-Ohio St-Nebraska
LSU-Washington-Mich St-Oklahoma St
S Carolina-USC-Iowa-Texas A&M
Bama-Oregon St-Illinois-Missouri
Miss St-Arizona St-Penn St-Baylor
Florida-Arizona-Michigan-Kansas St
Georgia-Cal-Northwestern-Iowa St
Tenn-UCLA-Purdue-Texas Tech
Kentucky-Wash St-Minnesota-Texas

I realize some of those games would be clunkers, but imagine Florida going to the Big House. Oklahoma going to play at Auburn. And imagine th excitement if, not only did you own National Championship hopes ride on that game, but the overall conference's status also was on the line.

I know it will never happen, but I think this plan would help, at least a little, in the rankings, and also create some darn good football games that face it, given the current system, we only get at bowl time.

Schedule Change to Fix the BCS

Posted by Esta on 12/21/10 at 1:06 pm
Let me start off with I do not want a playoff.

The biggest problem with the BCS is how to evaluate teams that have the same record but play completely different schedules? How does a 12-0 TCU compare to a 12-0 Auburn? To fix this, we need to address scheduling.

If the NCAA stepped in and scheduled two games a year for each team, we could get a much better feel for where each conference stands. For instance, for the next two years, the SEC would be matched up with the Big 12 and CUSA. The prior year's #1 SEC plays #1 Big 12 and #1 CUSA. The first year the even number SEC teams play at home against Big 12 and away against CUSA, and next year reverse. After those two years are up, the SEC gets the Big 10 and the MWC, or some similar type rotation.

SEC teams would still play their 8 conference games, 4 home and 4 away, then the two NCAA scheduled games, 1 home and 1 away, and then have 2 open dates to fill themselves. So a team could get 7 home games each year.

This would give everyone a chance to see how the different conference stack up, and give at least a little basis help rank teams with similar records.
So Joe Dean has gone into business with the guy who recommended Curley Hallman? And since then, those two have been paid by Miss St to recommend Sylvester Croom and Ole Miss to get Ed Orgeron? I assume their phones have not rung since.

His dad can play in the bowl as long as he doesn't know about it.
Penetration is always good. Repeated penetration, over and over.

NC - Starter JJ - Win
Vandy - Starter JJ - Win
Miss St - Starter JJ - Win

Who should start?

Terrible planning on your part. Never knock up your wife (or anyone else's for that matter) in January, February, or March.

re: Roll Call on QB play

They threw Lee to the wolves two years ago because there was nobody else to turn to. Now with the offense stuggling, they won't give him a chance. Maybe the coaches are worried about JJ's confidence, but they sure didn't seeem to care about Lee's two years ago.

I say give him a shot against Tenn. It can't hurt.

Tommy Herr in '82 (I think) had over 100 RBIs with only 9 HRs. Of course he had Vince Coleman and Ozzie Smith on ahead of him and Jack Clark behind him, but you don't always need to hitting the ball out of the park to be an effective run producer.

BCS scenario
then we may have a decent shot at going to the Sugar Bowl. That'd be about it.

Dude, are you serious? Have LSU fans gotten to the point where an invite to a BCS game is "That'd be about it"? So any year we're not in the BCS Championship Game it's just, "Ho-hum, that's nice, but it's not the Championship game"? You, my friend, are in for a lot of disappointing seasons.

Playoffs or Bowl Game

Posted by Esta on 9/17/09 at 12:07 pm
Given that Ole Miss plays both SE La and N Ariz, if they win 9 or 10 games, do they go to the FCS playoffs or a bowl game?

re: Florida Fans and LSU fans unite...

Posted by Esta on 9/15/09 at 1:15 pm to
It was done to maximize the number of bowl eligible team. At the end of any given year, Georgia, Florida, Tenn, Bama, LSU, and Auburn are usually going to be bwol eligible. By aligning the other six, the SEC is making sure half of the perennial little sisters get an extra win that hopefully puts them over the top and brings another bowl payday into the coffers.

They'll never change it.

Texas Names

Has anyone else noticed the stupid names Texas players have? They all seem to be named Houston, Austin, Colt, etc. It's like their parents are naming family pets. I forgot Major.
