You don’t just put a dude 3rd team to get others reps. That’s insane to think about.
This has been going on at every position that has talented depth this camp. Kelly, Sloan & Baker have repeatedly talked about getting guys reps now so that they are ready in case of injuries down the road.

He played in the scirmmage yesterday. He is not working back anymore.
He is an upperclassmen who is getting a light workload after dealing knee soreness from a previous surgery. It's the same reason Perkins got the day off today & other light work days. Same goes Whit Weeks & Nuss.

I also think Davis has shown really since last spring that he is starting to live up to his high ratings. I believe he will be the starting right tackle.
I also think Curne will get his chance to contribute this season--perhaps not much in the opener at Clemson, unless one of the starters gets hurt, but certainly in later games as the season progresses.

That's a pretty accurate assessment.

That disaster is currently your starting left guard
I remember the disaster that was Kendall Beckwith when they first tried him at LB, but he turned into a stud. This happens over and over and over again.

PJ Woodland also getting some first team reps opposite of Mansoor Delane
This is my favorite part. Such a higher ceiling than Stamps. I do think stamps as a second string cb is a great option to have though.

Davis needs an onboarding year, it just sucks that it is at the time the rest of the team is pretty set in place for a run.

I wonder if they don't believe in Davis or is this is Curne being first off the bench if a tackle goes down.
I wouldn’t read too much into it being a walkthrough day instead of a full practice with 11v11.

If one goes back and watches plays from last year, it is appalling that he could be a starter on a top college football team. Maybe he has improved that much, but that would be the most unexpected thing about this team if he has.
If one gets out of their feels and watches the Bowl Game, they will see he improved more than Chester did with less than half of the starts. He was very raw and he wasn’t ready to be thrown out there when he was last year, but he may have more potential than Chester.

You think Sloan and Davis know what they’re doing?
We know you don’t.

I believe that center is the line position that weakens the whole line if he plays poorly. Last year our center play as a whole was poor. I think that is a major reason run blocking was bad. I am more worried about who is the backup there than at guard.

Haven’t heard anything about Echols. Thought he would be in the mix at center, but it seems as though he hasn’t developed like many thought he would. Disappointed that Chester is #2 there.
Is it me, or did Curne look slow off the snap? Of course, the video doesn’t show “live” snaps, but still . . .

Echols is the backup for Thompson at RG. He’s been rotating like most of the 2s. There’s no shame in him being a backup to a vet with a lot of experience.
Moore only has one year and Echols has looked good in the playing time he’s had. He will likely be back in the mix at Center next year and could be the starter there. I think Chester’s experience likely has a lot to do with him being the backup there right now.
