come on, man. We don't deserve to be in the SEC CG. We'd get crushed.
Seems like I heard this before the 2001 SECCG against #1 Tennessee.
Didn’t work out well for the Vols. National title and rose bowl dreams disappeared on the field that day for the team in Orange
I don’t even know what “deserve” means. If we finish 1 or 2 in SEC standings after tiebreakers we absolutely deserve to be in the game by definition.

When will you people learn, this is a below mediocre football team. You are quick to forget the last 6 quarters of football played by this team.

It'll be interesting. I'd love to see it.
I assume in the first scenario we'd probably play Bama??
First scenario
quote:Arkansas is at Missouri to end the season. I didn't know Cook is out, that becomes very possible. Also Arkansas views Texas as a rivalry and plays them tough.
Win out, Tenn Loses to UGA (Nico out), Arkansas beats Texas or Mizzou (Brady Cook out for the year supposedly. It is @Arkansas)
In that scenario, we look at playing the winner of Texas/A&M, if Ark beats Mizzou (and Texas beats Arkansas).
If we play Texas, I'm actually kinda hopeful. Neither Ewers or Manning are dual threats, and we're putting solid pressure on pocket passers.

Who really knows especially if we look good the next 3 weeks - no one this season is also Georgia 2022 in the sec

Alabama can beat the frick out of a lot of teams, and it paired with matching up poorly against Milroe.
When will YOU people learn that 1-2 games don't make a season?

Could've/should've lost to USCe. Beat Ole Miss (great win) but took magic on a 4th down to make it happen.
If you honestly think LSU is one of the top 2 teams in the SEC, you're flat-out delusional.

LSU win out
Every Favored sec team wins their game
LSU vs AM in SEC championship.

Lol
LSU won’t win out. We can’t scheme to stop a mobile QB
You really want BK to get us humiliated in Atlanta again? I don’t.

The idea of LSU playing for the SEC championship after everything we've been through this year is insane. If that happens, holy moly

Posted on 11/13/24 at 3:54 pm to Phillytiger9
Of all of these conditions, the one I am least confident in is that we will win out.

That would be nuts for LSU to go in over Bama.

I think Arky as an outside chance vs Texas

If you honestly think LSU is one of the top 2 teams in the SEC, you're flat-out delusional.
Every team in the conference has at least one conference loss. Only three of sixteen have fewer than two conference losses. Tenn is an underdog this weekend. If they lose that leaves only two SEC teams with one conference loss (Texas and Texas A&M). Those two will play, which means in that scenario, AT BEST, only one team will finish the season with only one conf. loss.
So how would LSU be any "less deserving" than any of the other 2-loss teams? The would have beaten Vanderbilt...who beat Alabama. They would have beaten South Carolina on the road...who blew out A&M. They would have blown out Arkansas....who beat Tennessee. They would have beaten Ole Miss. Placement in the SEC Championship game is not subjective. There is an objective criteria which places the two teams in the game. If LSU were to get there they would be every bit as "deserving" as any of the other 2-loss teams they would be tied with.
No one (at least for now) is saying LSU is deserving of an at-large spot in the CFP because that is subjective. Getting to the SECCG isn't.

Maybe, but I'm not there yet.
I think a sneaky one could be Auburn beating A&M. No, Auburn isn't a good team. But they would be playing at home. JHS is one of the more underrated environments in the SEC. For their part A&M hasn't had to play many true road games this year. The beat Florida early in the season. Struggled to some degree against Miss. St. and ran into a buzzsaw in South Carolina. Would I bet my house on Auburn to win that game? Of course not. Their offense is terrible. But I watched an Auburn team get blown out by New Mexico St. last season then turn around the next week and take Alabama to the brink, requiring Alabama to convert a miraculous 4th down to win.
If Auburn were to win that game that would leave LSU only needing A&M to beat Texas. Sounds odd considering A&M would have lost to Auburn. But that game will be in College Station and will EASILY be the most hostile environment Texas will have played in all season...maybe in over a decade considering A&M will be getting them at home for the first time in 13 years!

I would love to see the math on our odds. It feels like if we win out we would have to have around a 50% chance of getting in with all the different scenarios
Posted on 11/13/24 at 5:14 pm to Phillytiger9
the least likely scenario out of all of this is us winning out
so there’s that

Posted on 11/13/24 at 5:19 pm to Phillytiger9
Bama is not losing. The end.

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm still hopeful they can make the SECCG and maybe win it. Anything is possible.

We’re talking about the exact scenario that puts lsu as one of the Top2 teams in the league.
No one said we are currently one of the top 2 teams in the league. There’s an entire month of football left to play. 25% of the regular season.
And yes, if we finish 1 or 2 in the league, we are indeed 1 or 2 in the league. As a fact, by definition.
Did you just randomly reply to a hypothetical SECCG scenario thread without knowing the context of the thread? This isn’t a current Week11 SEC power rankings thread.
