We’ll start the series off with an overview of the Longhorns then give you a look at numbers, facts and players to know in all three phases of the game. We’ll conduct a Q&A with Texas insider Bobby Burton before closing the week out with some way-too-early predictions.
Now, on to the Longhorns...
2018 Record: 10-4, 7-2 (Big 12)
Series vs. LSU: The two programs have met 17 times with Texas holding a slim 9-7-1 advantage.

Jump on them early and DKR will go silent.
Except when they show Matthew McConaughey on the big screen, of course.

I only dv the obvious shite-stirring posts, most of which are attended by the stretching pic.
This is a good post. Upvote.

Did Mike learn that swag from Burrow or the other way around.

This game opened up months ago at -8. I believe when I last checked it was down to -3.5.
That means the money is coming in on LSU bigly.

i dont see how Texas can stay within 14 points of LSU.
LSU has the talent advantage in every position

Games aren't played on paper. This game could go either way. I recall the Ole Miss game a couple of years ago when it seemed like half of their team was out with injuries. We lost.

I broke down the Texas starting D in the 247 thread, here's the outlook:
DE: SR. (6'3, 290) Roach - mostly a career backup, had least productive season last year with 24 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 0 sacks, FF
NT: rFR. (6'4, 340) Coburn - played in 3 games last year, finished with 2 tackles
DE: JR. (6'3, 295) Graham - backup first 2 seasons; 12 tackles, 2 TFL, 0.5 sack last season, FF
BOLB: SO. (6'4, 245) Ossai - Backup last season, had 20 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack
MLB: rFR. (6'1, 250) Adeoye - appeared in 4 games last season, recorded no statistics
ROV: SR. (6'3, 245) McCulloch - part-time starter, had 33 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 1 sack last year with a pick and forced fumble
CB: SO. (6'1, 190) Cook - backup last year had 18 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed
CB: SO. (6'1, 190) Green - backup last year had 2 tackles
S: SO. (6'1, 210) Sterns - started last year, 62 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 8 passes defensed and 4 INT -> star player on the defense
S: SR. (6'0, 210) B.Jones - started last year, 70 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 3 passes defensed and 2 INT
NB: SO. (6'2, 210) Foster - part time starter last year, 46 tackles, 9 TFL, 2.5 sacks, 6 passes defensed, 1 INT, 2 FF
Outlook is a VERY young defense, with 7 of 11 of them being 2nd year players, most of which did not start last year. Of the 4 upper classmen, only 1 was a full time starter last year, 2 more part time starters.
I'll be as blunt as I can here: They got a good secondary, Sterns is a legit star in the making at safety and was a huge miss for us in recruiting (we had him, until we didn't). We were also after the majority of those secondary players, and while they are super young at CB, I think they will be just fine there, maybe some early pitfalls potentially though. Foster is a versatile player, similar to our Stevens, not far off size wise too. He can be a bit of a hybrid S, NB, OLB.
As far as their defensive front - kind of weak, unless Coburn turns into a monste rhis first year really playing. They lost Omenihu who had 18 tackles for loss/9.5 sacks last season and was drafted. They lost Hager also at DE who wans't particularly good, but keep in mind he beat out Roach (JR. last year) and Graham (SO. last year) for that starting spot, so not great endorsements for those 2 who will be stepping up to start this year. As for their 3 Louisiana defensive linemen. Roach has regressed each year there, Wilbon has 19 tackles in 3 years there with not even a full TFL yet...while Christmas Giles has like 6 tackles in 3 years there. So all 3 Louisiana kids on that DL are non-factors pretty much.
Their linebackers are a remains to be seen unit. McCullough has a lot of playing experience now but never has taken that next step or really been much a starter, he's been in the 10, 20, 30 tackle range all 3 years there so far. I know they like Ossai a lot after a nice freshman year as a backup, feel like potential is there for Adeoye...but it's a unit that definitely remains to be seen. Our front 7, absolutely blows away their front 6 overall though, it isn't even close. They are lacking some serious depth and have some potentially questionable starters in there as well.
HOWEVER, if our OL isn't significantly improved, we might not even be able to take advantage of their potentially early maligned front 6.

I think its more accurate to think about position battles versus "who has the better QB, RB, etc"
this isn't an attack on you, its just one of my general pet peeves mostly derived from stupid talking heads in the NFL who year in year out fapped themselves into a stupor talking about BRADY VS MANNING as if they were going to meet on the 50 yard line and fight in a bare knuckle boxing match.

LSU is going to kick Texas' arse. I really think it won't be close. LSU by 17 to 21.
