On Sunday I posted some STATS regarding Total Offense. I have added to those stats in hopes to give a clearer picture of how our teams, specifically offense, compare in the overall rankings year in and year out. I was going to make a bunch of comments with my opinion on the data, but I think it is best to just post it without the comments from me.

I put together a Google Sheets document for this one as there is a lot of data, and it will be easiest viewed in an excel format.

The ranking of OCs and DCs (based on their average Offense or Defense Ranking for their years at LSU) are found below the top table. Scroll down to see them. Since many on here (including me) argue whether or not the offense sucking/sucks was/is due to the players, OC, Defense, S.O.S., etc. I have included the QB, OC, DC, and S.O.S. at the top of the doc in the Coaching Staff Section.

I am not familiar with using Google Sheets so if something is not working or isn't displaying properly let me know. Also, if you see any information on the sheets that look incorrect please let me know, and I will update the doc.

ETA: all the red highlights are the worst rank for their respective category.

First, thanks for doing this. Always fantastic to be able to discuss things with facts in play rather than simply beliefs.

Having said that, holy shitballs that is a sobering set of numbers.

Pretty much. With the exception of the Mett 2013 offense, we haven't had a great offense or QB play since Jimbo left.

Nice work, man. So what we see from this is that there is an obvious dip that is attributed to the fact that we've played the hardest schedule in college football. Our defense has taken a dip even.

The offense is near dead last, which a very hard schedule could explain a dip, but not to the point of near the bottom.

Great work my friend.

Miles succeeded playing Michigan / McClendon football: great defense, strong running attack, winning field position with special teams.

The SEC moved past that sort of 'old school' football, though. Alabama, Auburn, Miss State, Ole Miss, Missouri, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Texas A&M and even Vanderbilt have moved to more open and dynamic offenses.

LSU is stuck in the past and the rankings show just how far behind LSU has fallen.

Scheme did not change here. Only personnel.

If you look at the recruiting classes we had 2-3 years prior to 2018 I have a hard time believing it's due to lack of talent. Now I will admit we are lacking in key areas of the offense this year, and our SOS is the toughest so far. However when you look at the numbers over the years it shows we've done much better on offense with lower recruiting classes, similar SOS, and equal defensive talent.

Ensminger will be here next year unless he steps down on his own. I have made peace with that. I just hope that looking at these stats can help shed some light on how far we have fallen since Jimbo left, and that the current configuration of staff doesn't appear to be the answer to the offensive problem.

But no one liked all the pre-snap "eye candy" from Canada. He may not have been the best but it seems like he was decent at least according to the numbers.

Here's some:

1) outside of Jimbo coached QBs only Mett, Lee (2011 so not all Lee), and Etling (only when Canada was OC) have broken the top 50 in QB Rating.

2)outside of jimbo and the NC years only the 2013 Mett offense has above rank 50 in total points and points/game.

3) in 2018 we only rank 83 in first downs and 6 in first downs due to a penalty. That's scary.

4) 2018 is the worst year for Total Points and 2016 is the 2nd. Both years Ensminger ran the Offense (majority of 2016). Canada is the 5th worst but still 10 spots below Ensminger in his best year (2016)
