He also wasn’t fired by Miami and they were pretty pissed off he left

bowl stats didn't count in totals until the '02 season, so you shorted Jimbo in these years:
00 - 4514 (374 in Peach Bowl)

so LSU's season average under Jimbo was actually 5138 if my math is right.
also, as has been mentioned, we only played 11 game regular season schedules in 00, 01, 03, 04 and 05. 02 we actually played 12, and in 06, 12-game schedules became the norm.

Bottom line (for me): Jimbo is a good OC who had a couple very good years at LSU, and some that were pretty much average.
And I still haven't heard a decent explanation from anyone for what happened at Florida St that resulted in 6 losses in '17. Then 7 losses the year after Jimbo left. Looks like the program went down the tubes fast to me
(and no, "because Ole Miss" is not an answer. It's a dodge)

Right. And we were screwed at auburn in 2004 and he checked out the bowl game and we only played 11 regular season games. That shoulda been a 10 win season. If not 11.

My guess is Jimbo knew he was gone and so did the admin and players so everybody was checked out. Plus he had a backup qb all year after Francois was hurt.

They returned very little experience and had probably one of the most injury plagued team I've seen in recent memory. By the 5-6th game the defense looked like LSU in the bowl game.

If people think LSU had a bad line bc of injuries, it was nothing compared to them in 17. That's with your starting QB going down in gane 1 and going with a true freshman

IMO, LSU dodged a bullet by missing out on Jimbo.
