I'm looking for a LOGICAL reason for you and others to defend McMahon after 3.5 years of this horror show other than:
Baseball bros being scared to death that a successful men's basketball program takes its rightful spot just behind football at LSU, like it does at EVERY power 4 school OTHER than LSU.
Or, wanting the basketball program to continue sucking hind tit due to the fact that 125% of the players are black.
I'm open to hearing ANYTHING ELSE that makes LOGICAL SENSE in defending this clown, and pleading with you (since you have said the racial component of the basketball team is irrelevant to you), to give me your reason.

I hope he is fired if they don't make the tournament. but I cant rule out that part of the reason he hasn't been good is that he was not able to afford good players.

I’m a bigger basketball guy than most and I’ll say I like McMahon. I think he’s a good basketball coach and more importantly, capable of winning at this level. I don’t think he’s going to overachieve though. I think if he had top 5 money we’d be top 5 in the conference. I think that LSU hoops would likely be better off with someone else who’s more fiery and inspiring and can demand the required funds it takes to be competitive in today’s SEC. McMahon can coach though and it sucks we aren’t the right school for him, but LSU basketball is a weird job that needs a certain type of personality (assuming we continue to neglect it)

top 15 rank is not the same as a top 15 budget. I dunno how many times I have to say this.
he could have had less money and not gotten the players he wanted but the rating services like the class.
of he might have needed so many players that his class was scored based on volume more than quality.
like this current incoming football class. its not top ranked overall, but I believe its closer to top rank for average player ranking. so on average the players are ranked higher, but there are fewer of them.
I would rather have a smaller lower ranked class than a larger class adding up points based on volume.
see how agregate ranking and payroll are not the same?

You can’t apply that standard universally just like every other BS excuse you come up with. Again out of all the different programs who had top 20 classes in those two seasons McMahon’s records are 49th and 50th out of 52 teams. Your double standard fantasy doesn’t hold water.

this logic worked better when you just build teams with good classes and pretty soon you have juniors and sophomores and freshman accumulated from those classes.
its not the same if every year you have a new team of all new players and the class is largely ranked on volume not quality.
its better to have one 5 star than ten 3 stars. but you can assemble a good class rank with a bunch of mid players like dji bailey and Jordan Sears.
so the class ranks mean less now that the turnover is massive. especially consecutive good class ranks.
you might be able to recruit vyctorious miller, but you have to be able afford to keep and develop him.
