LSU had MEN on their teams in the 90’s

Those uniforms were fire.

This was one of the epic games in LSU baseball history. I love the nostalgia that’s LSU baseball.

Ahhh...to remember all those great names from our 90's heyday! We were THE team of that decade!
I just hope our next hire can start a new 'run' (pun intended) of success. Need to put us back in the elite group where we are CWS contenders every year! Just appeared PM lost his fire and was going through the motions after 2017...

Whoever will be the new LSU skipper, he must start recruiting dudes again. MLB player heights have shot up the past few years.

Our two studs this year that had 38 homers combined are both under 6 feet

Bregman, our best position player in recent history was under 6 feet. Y’all are so hung up on this height thing

Those late 90's and early 2000's teams were hungry and talented. We lost that the last few years and let some of those role players leave the state. We have been chasing stars which makes sense but as we have seen some of those stars are soft. Have to recruit more guys that are tough mentally and that starts with the coach.

Well The big leagues are. Just saying . I agree height is not a major KPI. Dusty Baker said just a few weeks ago if he had to design the perfect baseball player, he would start with Alex Bregman. But if you look at big league rosters, it’s trending in the 6’4” range.

What do I know. Altuve is maybe 5’6” and all he does is hit dingers.

Fun fact—this game is how I learned that if the home team takes the lead in the bottom of the 9th, the game ends (I was 9). Amid all the celebrating I remember thinking, “why didn’t I know this? That makes perfect sense.”

Thanks for posting. Was kind of nice seeing my Dad behind home plate again. He didn't make it to any games this year after getting sick and he ended up passing middle of this season.

Problem is 6’4” 5 tool players don’t make it to campus too often

I remember my uncle watching this game in his bedroom and hollering like a caveman over fresh kill when Walker got that hit. Good times.

Good stuff! Some interesting tidbits about that postseason. Miami was a #2 seed in our regional and went 0-2. We lost the 2nd game in our regional to Kent State. Wichita State had 50+ wins and was a #3 seed in the Ga Tech regional. Texas AM was stout and had the #1 seed overall and went 0-2 in the CWS. Man I miss those days!
