And as a result we have hired poor leaders who make bad decisions. They are Alexander and Alleva. You cannot hire top of the line leadership if your state funding has gone from 70% to 25%. To start fixing this football situation, we need a new AD and President.

This what Jindal wanted, and the people who voted for him let it happen.

LSU and TAF are not the same, and TAF is not underfunded by any means, at least not right now.

You think Aleva is the only one making the decisions on coaches? LSU pays the coach like $250k. The other $4-5 million comes from TAF, which means it comes from the big money people in TAF, and they have to give their approval for hires like this.

Its scary to see there are several who openly support Jindal and claim one of the best governors the state ever had.

The two are not the same. TAF has the money.

Jindal hired Alleva and forced the hire of F. King.
Jindal and his BOS also intervened to keep Alleva from firing Miles in 2015.
And no person is more responsible for inadequate funding to higher education in La. than Jindal.

We have had felons as our guvna. Jindal could do the little he did and be one of the best. I don't know of any stories of the felonies he commmitted. I do of Blanco. You know much of the others crimes.

Contrary to some of the opinion on this board, LSU needs an infusion of talent. Their so called top recruiting classes have been fiools' gold to a large extent.

Tell me about. I’m sitting in the homeless shelter known as Middleton right now.

Think we’re underfunded now? Wait til the AD can’t fork over that bonus

The firing of mike Martin was a big political play that had the BOS divided and fighting. I don’t know what the reason was but the pro-Martin side claimed it was without cause

Jindal may be a lot of things, but anti-LSU is not one of them. Joe Alleva was hired in 2007, a year before Jindal was in office. You can argue that F King was a byproduct of Jindal appointee BOS members, which I would not disagree. Make no mistake, F King is a disaster and the current BOS enabled all of this shite to happen. We will see if the BOS and has the balls to clean house. But going back to my original point, to say this is what Jindal "wanted" is simply not true. I would be more worried about our current political situation we have in Mayor and the current Governor - much more than the last guy.

If we're underfunded, which I'm not saying we're not, that makes giving a coach who was practically BEGGING for the job ANY buyout clause all the more absurd. Not to mention having a $12 million buy out. It is unfathomable to me that that doesn't cost someone their fricking job. It is incompetence that is completely inexcusable and pathetic.

You are correct. Yet, some folks want to slash taxes which is where the money comes from to fund LSU. State legislators are beholden to Grover Norquist and make pledges to this DC asshat not to raise taxes. Nobody wants to pay higher taxes, but Bush 41 said it best when discussing Ronald Reagan's trickle-down BS, it's "voodoo economics."

Jindal left this state's finances a mess, just as Republican governors in Wisconsin and Kansas. You can't just slash taxes, and at the same time provide state fund giveaways to Big Oil and Big Hollywood, and not expect that services, and higher education won't suffer.

We have some of the highest taxes in the nation and what do we have to show for it? Awesome roads? Education? Infrastructure?

No. Not even close to being correct. Louisiana's problems with funding for higher education and healthcare, for that matter, have been decades in the making. Unlike states like California, which allows itself to operate state government at a deficit, Louisiana requires that its budge is balanced every year. There are so many sweetheart deals that lawmakers in Louisiana have made over the years that when it comes time to submit a balanced budget, the only places for discretionary cuts which the Governor, whoever that is, can make are in education and healthcare funding. Any other cuts require our state lawmakers to pass legislation, which they can never seem to agree on. That is why the Governor holds special legislative sessions every year in hopes that the legislature can balance the budget. The alternative is cuts to education and healthcare. Regardless of their political affiliation, our state politicians have fricked over Louisiana citizens for years.

Jindal was bad for LSU, but Blanco's administration can't ignored either. She didn't care about LSU choose to focus on the second tier schools mainly ULL.
