LSU is scared to death of the NCAA

That’s what this all boils down to. They are so scared of sanctions and opening themselves up to the NCAA that they are willing to jeopardize everything including throwing players and coaches under the bus who MAY or MAY NOT have done something wrong. The lack of institutional control argument is complete bullshite and all of us fans know it. It’s just an excuse by the administration to throw shade away from them and place it on Wade and the players. What a shite show. I have completely lost confidence in the Flagship University of the great state of Louisiana making the right decisions for the betterment of the sports we all love and support.

I wonder why.
quote:
n the NCAA's ruling, the Rebels, who were accused of 15 Level I violations, were admonished for lacking institutional control and fostering "an unconstrained culture of booster involvement in football recruiting."
quote:
NCAA penalties for Ole Miss football
• Three years of probation, until Nov. 30, 2020.
• A penalty of $5,000 plus 1 percent of average football budget for three years, which was calculated at $179,797 (self-imposed by university).
• Postseason ban for 2017 (self-imposed) and 2018 seasons.
• Hugh Freeze must serve a 2-game conference suspension for 2018 season should any school hire him between Dec. 1, 2017, and Nov. 30, 2018.
• An 8-year show-cause order for the operations coordinator. No athletically related duties or contact with prospective student-athletes and their families.
• A 5-year show-cause order for the assistant coach who facilitated standardized test fraud and living arrangements. No athletically related duties during this time.
• A 2-year show-cause order for other involved assistant coach. No off-campus recruiting activities or hosting any meals for prospects or student-athletes.
• A 5-year show-cause order for assistant athletics director. No recruiting activities during this time.
• Must vacate all regular-season and postseason wins in which ineligible student-athletes competed.
• Scholarship reductions through 2018-19 (self-imposed). • Recruiting restrictions.
• Disassociation of boosters (self-imposed).

This wont affect just sports, either. Everyone knows a healthy athletic department helps support academics in many ways. And at LSU, TAF gives money directly back to the School.

The LSU administration has all their eggs in the “Wade will be found to be definitively guilty and our actions will cause the NCAA to be more lenient in light of that fact” basket.
If either one of those assertions turns out to be false they have royally and unforgiveably fricked up

This isn’t even close to Ole Miss.
Why are teams with much more specifics not even sweating anything in basketball?
LSU is making this far worse than it ever had to be.

Agreed....but what if they ARE true?
Yes, basketball will suffer for the time being.... but the school as a whole and the AD as a whole will be vindicated for the actions that many are currently condemning.

And miss state got the player. Lol and nothing happens to them. Also listed with Leo Lewis LSU offered 60 or 80. Watch paid to play in Mississippi on YouTube if you want to see how dirty the ncaa is.

Actually, the Ole Miss incident doesn't look all that bad. A total of $37K over how many prospects?
quote:
According to the NCAA, six football staff members and 12 boosters were involved in the violations, which included the provision of approximately $37,000 to prospects through cash payments, the use of automobiles, lodging, transportation, meals and apparel. Two staff members also helped arrange fraudulent standardized test scores for three prospects.

but for the greater good the "best" outcome is that Wade is undoubtedly guilty
The frick? Dude you can’t be serious. How is this a better situation than Wade being completely innocent of any recruiting violations? That plain dumb.

Who has been thrown under the bus?
Will Wade is STILL getting paid.
Will Wade will not meet with LSU.
LSU cannot reinstate him until that happens.
There are no other options at this point. I

If the NCAA finds lack of institutional control they can expand the investigation into ALL sports at LSU.

That’s all they could definitively prove. We all know there was more.

...and how much more do you think exists in LSU's underbelly? Wade dealt with this runner for two prospects that we know of. How many more are there? I mean, we have some high profile players that came to LSU from rather far away.

Yeah...there was another point I was trying to make, but it didn't come out right....so I went back and had the judge instruct the jury to disregard those remarks

Stop acting like this is a set rule that all colleges must follow. They can reinstate him any time they want.

So let me get this straight....
You guys want the University's Administration to take a gamble and reinstate Will Wade to satisfy your fandom when there's obvious wrongdoing?
