This is the 3rd year in a row that we have gone into the bowl game with turmoil in the coaching staff and rumors all over the place of who is staying or going. You can lay this at the feet of Joe Alleva. Miles should have been let go not last year but the year before and if Alleva had any qualification for the job he holds and if the TAF and Board of Supervisors had any stones they would have moved forward with the Jimbo hire the first time when he wanted to be at LSU. Had that happened, we would be light years ahead of where we are and with his ability to recruit, most likely at minimum in the conversation for the playoff. Instead, we are where we are which waddling through another subpar year and wondering why will next season be any different.

a great QB is the equalizer .... we have other talent
so we have to wait and see.

Absolutely not. We need to take a big, long look in the mirror.
We are 0-7 against Alabama in recent years for a reason.
We are 0-2 vs. Notre Dame in recent years for a reason.
We lost to Wisconsin for a reason.
We lost to Clemson for a reason.
We lost to Troy for a reason.
The program is not at an elite status. We aren't "bad" and have a lot of talent, but we are no longer elite. We're a Top 25 team, not a Top 10.

a great QB can change your status overnight.

I don't disagree with the OP in the least; the gap did appear to be large. But it also struck me that LSU defeated teams that beat Bama and Clemson. On the one hand, we seem miles away, but on the other, there is evidence to suggest that the gap could be closed quickly. I also noted that two years ago, Ga. was losing to Ga. Southern.

everybody knew that at the beginning of the season. this just didn't come out yesterday. Etling is an average QB. Canada's offense is not that great. so if this just came to your attention yesterday then you must not have watched many games this year.

LSU has regressed from last year. SOS different year but LSU is just mediocre now and been that way since 2014. The elephant in the room still hasn't been addressed and that is lack of QB development. Now LSU has branded themselves as a place not go play QB.
We are becoming more the butt end of jokes in the conference while the SEC is in the process of resetting itself for it's post Saban era. LSU is being left in the dust while Georgia, Florida, A&M, Bama, and despite it's inconsistencies, Auburn are making moves. LSU hasn't capitalized on the inevitable of the conference resetting itself. Next year will be brutal and LSU won't have the luxury of playing a soft schedule like they did this year. In fact it was one of the weakest in the P5. Next year LSU could easily go 8-4 or 7-5. That isn't some negatiger shite either. That is in the realm of possibility. LSU has lost it's footing in the conference now. Georgia and Bama has replaced what LSU was and that is something LSU hasn't been since 2011.
I doubt I will go to many games next year until LSU is ready to make systemic changes up top. Maybe Miami and Bama but I sure in the hell don't want to see LSU either get blown out or lose a close one because of lack of execution, talent and coaching to Georgia. Until then we are in the same situation as Tennessee essentially thankfully not near as bad yet- An abysmal university president and AD. Another season wasted with little to no improvement. F Alleva and F King.

We're a team that now struggles to win > 9 games a year.....that's what we are.....and that will never be good enough for a playoff spot...

and 9-3 with that weak schedule is meh even with the youth and a new offense. Next year will be brutal. The schedule is freaking hell with the meat of the SEC schedule all in consecutive weeks with no break.
