This is crazy! Must be a new rule?

I know it is not new rule, but it is also still really weird. If a team ranked #4 in the BCS system cannot get one of the 10 BCS slots, what a joke.

In 1998, Kansas State was set for a NC, lost the final game, fell to #3 and went to a shite bowl. They implemented the top 4 rule because of Kansas State.

But conference champs have to go and they might not finish high (nobody complained when 3 loss LSU went in 2001). I don't totally agree that you can't have more than 2 conference teams in,but I understand

Prob.... Wouldn't be capital one bowl either.... I had heard that they try to avoid inviting a team 2 years in a row... so outback, gator, cotton..

I am proud of the team and I am hopeful that we do receive a bid for Sugar!

We have a small chance of getting in the orange...
NONE OF THIS MATTERS IF WE LOSE TODAY!

I'll give some one a chance to guess but can anybody tell me the highest ranked team not to make a BCS game?

Kansas State was #3 in 1998

LOL. You know too much about the BCS. Also since it went to a 5 game the highest seed not to make it was #6 Missouri in 07 when the Orange Bowl picked #8 Kansas over them.

Top 4 in BCS standings automatically go to BCS bowl.

Win and we're in.

Am I the only person here that knows this?

This isn't true. AU could lose and drop to #3 in the BCS.

quote:

Q7: Who automatically qualifies for the BCS slots?
A7: There are several ways for teams to automatically qualify:

1) The 6 BCS conference champions (ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big XII, Pac-10, and SEC)
2) Optionally, 1 non-BCS conference champion IF they are either in the BCS Top 12 (or the BCS Top 16 if there is a BCS conference champion ranked behind them)
3) The #3 BCS team IF that team is from a BCS conference AND isn't already qualified
4) The #4 BCS team ONLY if the #3 team didn't use a spot from the #3 rule AND that team is from a BCS conference

5) Notre Dame if they are in the BCS Top 8.

What was Cal in 2004? Texas snuck in to the Rose because they were top 4

If AU loses the SECCG, they will drop lower than LSU. The human voters will put them below LSU and we would end up in a BCS game not AU. Remember the voters have long term memory problems. We lost weeks ago and AU would have just lost in voters minds. Win and we're in! Enuff said. Bet on it!!!!!!

If you think the Sugar would pass over LSU when they get two picks in a row, you are not seeing the landscape. OSU is a great at-large, but then who? Stanford? Lol or the Bige East champ? Sugar bowl will pick LSU and as I stated before, outside of the NC, it is LSUs only BCS possibility.

what makes you people think Auburn would only drop one or two spots is they lose to SC

04 Was USC, OU, AU, Texas, and then think Cal was 5, but in 04 they only had 4 games at the time. the 5th game didn't start until the 06 season when Florida beat Ohio St for the title. Since that 5th game the highest ranked team turned away was Missouri.

So you think the human voters would put them below LSU even though we'd have the same record and they beat us head to head? I disagree. I will also NOT bet on it per your recommendation.

What makes you think they wouldn't? Oklahoma didn't drop after they got skull fricked in the 2003 Big 12 championship.

It would take a serious beatdown plus an LSU bitchslap of ARky (not happening) for LSU to jump AU in the BCS.

Becaus AU will be#1 in the computers regardless of the SC game for one. Also, even if the humans drop AU behind LSU (they won't, but lets play your game) AU would have a full lead on LSU in the computers that LSU simply will not be able to make up. Remember Oklahoma in 2003? Huge conmputer lead that they retained after the loss. Plus, why would a voter put 12-1 AU behind an 11-1 LSU that they beat head to head? Makes no sense

Could be worse than that. I could see some computers having AU>Oregon>LSU

If our record is two wins better than the next SEC team, then the CAP One is required to take us (or so I heard).

Matt, my computer rankings hate the Ducks. I am dumbfounded how they get any computer love, but I defer to you.

well they aren't strong in the computers, but it is hard to finish above an undefeated BCS school
