Im more worried about Arkansas and Ole Miss than this fairy tale... Lets worry about the team not dropping a deuce and shitting the bed against ULM, scraping by or looking flat. That's what we've seen the last few years. I'm not paying attention to the fairy tales, I want to see the team play well week in and week out.

The difference between Nebraska in 2001 and LSU in 2010 is that LSU WOULD NOT get humiliated against either TCU or Boise St. Actually, LSU would likely beat both teams and would surely be favored.

LSU's defense and special teams are just too good for those teams. LSU's offense is often deplorable, but generally does enough to win.

Geez, I can't believe we are even talking about this. What a difference a week makes.

See Nebraska 2001, which tied for the division but wasn't the representative in the champsionship game.

that was in the old configuration though, changes were made after 2003 to re-emphasize the human polls

I think that LSU in the BCS championship IS possible, but unlikely (not as unlikely as needing West Virginia and Missouri to lose to terrible teams, though).

Both Auburn and Oregon have to play their biggest rivals, on the road, with the rival knowing that a win destroys the soul of their biggest enemy. That's rather motivating, don't you think?

And if (big IF) it were to happen, I personally believe that LSU would beat TCU like a rented mule...and become National Champ without winning the SEC West. Now picture the mushroom cloud over the ESPN complex if that happens.

Not holding my breath, though.

This.

I think the guy had it wrong on when Auburn has to lose. If they lose to Bama and win the SECCG, I think AU remains the highest ranked SEC team. If, however, they lose to a 9-3 Florida in the SECCG, LSU will be the highest ranked SEC team and might have a shot at the BCSCG if other things happen like an Oregon loss. I don't think there is any way in hell we get a TCU v. Boise game for the BCSCG. That would be a joke based on the schedules they play compared to all the 1-loss teams that play anywhere from 4-6 ranked teams.

Yes.

YES!

You think TCU would beat UF, Bama, and hang with Auburn at Auburn... all in the same 5 week window?

The 'If's:

1. LSU wins out, in good fashion.
2. Auburn loses to Georgia or Alabama and Florida.
3. Oregon loses to Cal or Oregon State.

If these 3 things happen, the worst would be the BCS Sugar Bowl and finish in the top 2/3 in the country.

The best, LSU vs. Boise St./TCU.

Don't think it can happen?? See 2007.

Nope. UF would be in the Sugar. It'd be Championship game or bust in your scenario.

i sit corrected.

the worst would be a 'really good bowl', ending up in the top 2/3 in the country....or the MNCG.

we could also be left out of the bcs all together sitting at the number 5 spot. if we are at the 4 spot then the bcs would have to take us over Auburn
How would that be possible? 2 teams can go to a BCS game from the same conference don't you know. If LSU is #4 at the end of the season I don't see any way they are not invited to one of the BCS bowls. Although that did happen in '05 didn't it? I don't remember what we were ranked but since we had just come off of getting stomped by UGA in the SECCG we were not going to get much sympathy.

It seems like everyone here has failed to recall that LSU has already done this before! We didn't win our division in 2003 and we still won the national title!

Remember??

If Auburn loses the SEC CG but is still 12-1, they most likely would stay ahead of 11-1 LSU in the BCS. They certainly would in the computers, and probably the human polls as well. If they are Top 4 and ahead of LSU, they are an automatic qualifier and that would fill up the SECs two spots, with the East SEC CG winner going to the Sugar Bowl.

That would be funny considering what happened in 2001 when a Nebraska team that failed to win its division wound up in the MNCG after LSU upset Tennessee who was otherwise destined to get waxed by the Canes.
