This is the answer. Of course, not being a supersticious man, I know that they had no impact whatsoever...but coinkedink? I think not.

Joe Dean willingly accepting mediocrity (or even worse) from the football program might have had an impact, too.

The silver is better than their standard dark pink jerseys.

And while they're making changes, they should consider changing their fight song...never understood why they play "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" after every score. Shouldn't they be concerned that doing this, particularly in Atlanta, could cause houses and barns to spontaneously start burning?
Well, he earlier said that Bama was playing all the teams that they're competing with for #2 (OK State, Stanford, Va Tech)...I think that's what he meant.

Georgia is playing solid football. Their record is inflated, however, since they didn't play the big boys from the west.

And it's hard to respect a team that wears dark pink uniforms, and plays the battle hymn of the republic as their fight song.
My fondest wish is that at the end of the year, we'll all look back at the QB situation and marvel at Les Mile's (and the two-headed O coordinator's) coaching and managing skills...as we roll over trying to sleep off the hangover we got, watching LSU acquire another national championship.

I would personally root for an alien from outer space, with green skin, who confessed to killing Lincoln, Kennedy, and inventing the mosquito...if they put on the purple and gold and win games for LSU. Both QBs have done that this year.

This.

I doubt most fans harbor much negativity towards Jefferson. They (including me) just don't want to mess with a successful team. And they (including me) don't want any doubt floating around in Lee's mind, and opening up any scars from his freshman year.

If Miles would have said prior to the game, definitively, that Lee is the starter going forward (which he SORTA did) and that Jefferson would play a series or two, I think the reaction would have been more favorable.
I was on an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf for this game. I had a $5.00 bet with a good friend of mine from Kentucky. We were in the Chief's mess (our cafeteria and lounge), Armed Forces Network was broadcasting a different game, but we had confiscated the computer at the back of the lounge.

We clicked for updates on the score, but our connection was REALLY slow. I watched the updates in horror (remember, not video of the game, just a score, time, and status). When Kentucky scored to go ahead, I paid off on the bet (yeah, I know), and my friend got everyone's attention (the other people in the lounge watching the other game on TV) and showed off the $5.00, then went out into the cafeteria part of the Chief's Mess to continue bragging.

I clicked update one last time to see the final score. It took at least 2 or 3 minutes to update, but when it did...well, you know. I clicked again just to make sure. Then the fireworks went off.

I didn't see the actual play until we returned from deployment. And to this day, I occasionally sign my emails to him as "Devery Henderson".
Up here in the tundra of southern Maine...beer in the fridge and red beans and rice ready to go.
I think that LSU in the BCS championship IS possible, but unlikely (not as unlikely as needing West Virginia and Missouri to lose to terrible teams, though).

Both Auburn and Oregon have to play their biggest rivals, on the road, with the rival knowing that a win destroys the soul of their biggest enemy. That's rather motivating, don't you think?

And if (big IF) it were to happen, I personally believe that LSU would beat TCU like a rented mule...and become National Champ without winning the SEC West. Now picture the mushroom cloud over the ESPN complex if that happens.

Not holding my breath, though.
Shivering here in Maine.

These people up here can't even SPELL college football.
