Who cares? The thing I remember the most is he kicked our asses. The average LSU fan can't remember when the Assembly Center crowd actually had a pulse, with any regularity.

Not that college kids would learn a lesson or anything, today:

But if you say something embarrassing on TV (or chant something vulgar), it may come back to haunt your generation of LSU fans.

Here's an idea, be loud, but not classless. Get it?

I remember a few guys started chanting it and it was because Laettner flipped us off. Feinswag was all over the students in the paper the next day. I had forgotten about the chanting.

Those were the days btw. I don't remember any other vulgar student section issue other that kick their arse.

People were embarrased when lsu students found Tim Tebow phone number and the whole fan base called him. The reaction was negative and people were complaining. 7 years later its a great memory and one of the greatest games ever played in tiger stadium because of Tim coming up to the student section with his hand on his ear like he was answering a phone call.

He even mentioned how he didn't mind it and just made it more of a amazing atmosphere that night.

Correct. But it wasn't a vulgar chant.

In fact, the tebow phone thing is something that LSU is creative enough to do. And the moment was caught on tv.

The sttdb is still just so lame; it's not crafty or witty in the least. It reminds me of Maryland basketball home games. Pathetic.

The Tebow thing isn't at all offensive. The vulgar chants shown in the Laettner 30 for 30 is nationally perceived as backwards and bigoted. What happened, happened, but it's not a good look for us, imo.

LSU in the "I Hate Laettner" 30 for 30 quote: the **** and such was then as unnecessary and unimaginative as some of the rants at football games today. I can't think of many other big out of conference games since then, and maybe there is a reason why. You sound like you're as much of a drama queen as the original poster.

Drama queen for what? For not getting too worked up for a game, or for just thinking the name calling Is stupid and unnecessary. No drama just opinion. From the intimidation aspect intended, the score board reflects its effectiveness.

I'll never forget at Mardi Gras in NO that I met a UNC fan that was wearing a T shirt that said DUKE sucks and Laettner swallows.

People still use the "But, but but" thing? So worn. Like "Les has lost control," or "will never be completed in time," or "Jack Hunt!" Some things need to be retired. Tired, boring, unoriginal.

I didn't watch it. Perhaps we can determine from the video the identity of the students chanting these horrible slurs, post it to the twitter-verse, organize a protest outside their current homes and try to ruin their lives.

This is very true. It's a shame something clever and witty didn't catch on...something we could all get behind.

Know how I know you grew up in the 2000s?

The documentary didn't show it as "hey, look how bad the LSU ditch diggers look," it was more of a this is an example of the types of things he heard everywhere he went.

All of the stupid chants by kids at LSU can go away. But I'm a grown arse man so you kids carry on with your silly little chants. Idiots.

right. because it's great to have your hometown look like a bunch of classless bigots on national television.

Puhleeeeeese. I went to a Duke/UNC game during the same period and the Tarheel fans were saying the same things and worse to Laettner. He was a great player, a difference maker who could at any moment reach down your throat and pull out your heart - see Kentucky/Duke in 1992. I hated his existence back then and at the time would not have minded if someone would have kicked his arse right on the court...that was how good he was.

You only taunt the great players.

And to Tebow's credit he had fun with it when he ran into the endzone for a touchdown and used the phone thing against the student section. He at least had/has a sense of humor.

I think the consensus here is that we all do and say dumb things in college. Then it was the Homosexual chant, now it's the STTDB chant. Kids will be kids, throw in some whiskey and vulgar harassment will ensue. i'm sure there are very few adult alumni who would participate in either of these chants, but i believe everyone will agree that the excitement we get from LSU sports as students are some of the better memories we have from school.
