I just don't understand NOT wanting to be IN Tiger Stadium ? It's electric and I only get 7 or so chances a year to go. I'm guessing most who only tailgate either sit alone or didn't grow up going to football games. There is nothing better than watching the Tigers play in Tiger Stadium and the band playing pre game ! But to each his own.

I enjoy the tailgating more every year...from planning and getting the setup together during the offseason to gameday setup, cooking, etc., all are something that I enjoy more with each passing year...
however, when compared to the game itself, the game is what I like the most and it is not even close...I have gone to all but a couple of both home and away games since the 2002 season and stayed pretty much until the clock read 0:00 for most every one....I live a few hundred miles away and have no problem driving in by myself and attending the game alone (do that for a couple of games every year)...
I have been all over the world and if I have my pick of a place to go, my choice is tiger stadium on a saturday night...several nights per year in that stadium is the only place that I can go and think about nothing but football...no work, no problems, no nothing...only football...

Fat fricks.
Drunk fricks.
Stupid fricks.
Loudmouth stupid fricks.
Just to name a few.
Used to never miss.
Now I couldn't care less. I like my chair at home or chair under my tent while tailgating.

Party rock, bro.
Games are better on TV.
Bathrooms are better at a tailgate.
Womenz are better at a tailgate.
Food is better at a tailgate.
Seating is better at a tailgate.
I like road trips much more than attending games in TS due to the corporate presence at the home games. On the road the LSU fans are hard-core, old school people.

I have to admit, I have really enjoyed the away games...not the Jerry world type shite, but the games at SEC stadiums and those at places that I would never otherwise visit have been a real blast over the last couple of years....

I completely disagree. I want to watch the game itself.
That's fine. But guys who want to watch it in person are probably bigger fans. No big deal, it is what it is. Some people place more value on convenience than others.

That's such bullshite. I get much more info watching on tv. Therefor I want to watch on tv.
Maybe you are less of a fan because you don't care as much about the game as you do what's going on in the stands.
See how that works?
It's to each his own. I don't think either person is a bigger fan simply for how they want to watch the game.

The reason for the tailgate in the first place is the GAME. Game is more important. I show up, grill a little, have a few beers but pack up and still make it to the stadium well before kickoff and see the last play of the game.

Being in a stadium in good seats and watching plays develop on the field is far superior to watching on TV, especially passing routes and LB/secondary adjustments. Listening to numbnuts prattle on "analyzing" games and making shite up is not really info IMO.
What if LSU won 3 games a year for 3 years in a row? Then only the hardcore would show up for the games, not people wanting to party with no intention of going into the stadium. I don't get it, nor would I travel 1100+ miles to go see a tailgate.

Definately the game. However, started tailgaiting in 1957. Yea, that is not a misprint... 1957.

I've stated my opinion on this in the past. I'm there strictly for the football game. Could care less about tailgating.
The extent of my tailgating in the past was eating a few bologna sandwiches, fast food, some pickles, chips and a soft drink before and after the game. I just want to get in, find a parking spot, go to the game, then get out with as little hassle as possible while trying to avoid the drunks and obnoxious idiots in the process.
I usually only take my headphones off for ticket scouting outside the stadium, pre-game and halftime. It's strictly serious football without all the frivolity and drunken nonsense that so many can't seem to live without.
