None of this even remotely accurate. While there are always outliers, the vast majority of teams that will qualify for the CFP are at the top of the recruited talent rankings. Successful teams are using the portal to supplement, not use as a base.

Some will be along here in a while to tell you we don’t have enough money to compete for top players. You can’t throw all your NIL dollars into the portal unless you’re picking up can’t miss studs.

The Industry rankings are NOT the On3 rankings, In fact, it's only 35% On3 evaluations; the On3 evaluations are diluted with the crappy rankings from ESPN, 247, and Rivals. Those rankings are weighted : On3 (35%), 247Sports (35%), Rivals.com (20%) and ESPN (10%), so it's mostly crappy evaluations. Even if you like 247, it's still 30% useless evaluations.

On3 Industry rankings (average of On3, 247, Rivals, and ESPN) have LSU #4. 247 Composite rankings (also an average of On3, 247, Rivals, and ESPN) have LSU #5.
The difference between On3 Industry and 247 Composite, supposedly, has to do with how they normalize Rivals’ weird ranking system.
The difference between the On3/247 in-house rankings and the Industry/Composite rankings comes down to the fact that ESPN and Rivals have LSU commits rated lower than 247 and On3.
