One of the greatest offensive seasons in MLB history and he didn't win the MVP because the media elite hated him so bad.

That is what I liked most about him and of course the Vina collisions! I'm not sure a LB in LSU history ever had a better hit than that.

Guy could flat out hit.

Simple DUI is 10 days in jail, extreme is 30, super extreme is 120. AZ doesn't play around with DUIs. Super extreme is a .20 BAC btw

I am glad there is a mandatory sentence...I kinda like that....but how easy is it for lawyers to get around all of that? Is it like Louisiana where lawyers make a living getting people out of DWI?

I would assume lawyers get around those just like they do everywhere else (I'm one of them ). People shouldn't be sentenced to 30 days in jail for a first time misdemeanor offense with no victim IMO.

I don't agree with mandatory minimum sentences, especially if they exceed 48-72 hours.

It probably cost LSU a national title that year but when Belle decided to confront those racist Miss St fans in the outfield it was the last straw for Bertman even though Belle probably had a valid reason at what was being hurled at him in Starkville

It was when he hit a home run right after being suspended for a corked bat. He says something to the extent of "it's right here mother fricker" as in his muscles, not a corked bat, allow him to rake

Played city league ball against him. Dude was a legend at that time.

To his credit, he was always very nice and personable when I spoke to him at LSU.

When Joey started climbing that out field fence & grabbed a 2 x 4, those State fans scattered like wired ants. He scared the shite out of them. But that was just the final straw. He still has the LSU record of not running out infield ground balls. Skip used to say that he lost a third of his hair worrying about Joey, so much talent wasted. And fwiw, a lot of his issues came from his mother, a hard core racist well known in parks around Shreveport.
