"We're planning to play, the other stuff is out of our control," Orgeron said. "We have the full staff in here. We're planning football school. We've made our practice schedule for August. We're putting in all of our scripts. We're doing all of our cards. We're going on as usual, we're playing. Whatever happens, we've been told that in all likelihood we're playing. If that changes, that's out of our control."

quote:

"We have a mantra here that we don't blink," Orgeron said. "So whatever they give us, we're going to be prepared for it. You just tell us where to play, whether it's in a cow pasture, at midnight or 3 a.m. we're going to go play."

quote:

A source told the Advocate that the actual amount of positive tests among players centered around "five or six players." Orgeron refuted the number 30 during his interview with Bobby Hebert and Kristian Garic.

"The number 30 was not correct," Orgeron said. "That was inaccurate. I don't know who said that. It wasn't that high. But we did have a little spike. Now it's going down. I think it's under control. I think it's a fairly low number right now that we're very pleased with. It looks like everything's going smooth for us."

The "other stuff" is covid-19 and with covid-19 hotbeds in Florida and Texas, there ain't football in the fall this year.

The Florida numbers are BS. People testing positive and then negative at 2 different testing clinics. People making appointments and not showing up but getting letters saying they tested positive. I am very connected to a few hospitals locally. And the number of beds used for Covid are not increasing. Don’t always believe what you read in the news

IF they play and it’s a big IF, there won’t be any fans in the stadiums.

Why would football not be played? This shite is beyond ridiculous.

The entire country is on the cautious side of the virus, and we should be. If we play football, the season will have a huge *, so is it really worth it?
It will be depressing if the season is cancelled, but it may be the best decision at this point.

—-You are choosing to be terribly misinformed. TX covid deaths roughly 100 per MILLION. New Jersey, 1800 per million

FL has a high number of retirees but even there death rate is below national avg.

"Football school" always makes me cringe. I love coach O but damn makes me think of that time Steve Harvey ripped that dude in his audience that said he goes to computer school.

Common modern day journalism be the first to report the news and be 600% incorrect.

I don't think they ever said 30 tested positive, just that 30 were quarantined as having close contact with someone who tested positive.

Common modern day consumer ready to play "Gotcha!" without bothering to pay attention to what was actually said.

30 LSU Football Players Tested Positive for COVID-19 ... SI

This is the first article that comes up on Google when you search for LSU players testing positive.

Sensationalism at its finest.

Other article titles include...

LSU confirms at least 30 football players are in quarantine due to COVID-19

AT LEAST 30 LSU FOOTBALL PLAYERS IN QUARANTINE AFTER POSITIVE COVID TESTS

LSU confirms at least 30 football players are in quarantine due to COVID-19

Report: 30 LSU football players quarantined, more than a dozen test positive for COVID-19

Except the article doesn't actually say that. The title of the article doesn't even say that. Just some tech intern who made up the URL said that. If you google "30 LSU players quarantined" you will find dozens of articles saying exactly that.

"...at least 30 of LSU's 115 football players have been isolated because they either tested positive for COVID-19 or were found to have had contact with those who did test positive."

First sentence, first paragraph.

You think anyone outside a few LSU fans actually read the article about LSU? Or do they just scroll by the title and think, wow LSU needs to get control of their team.

That's not the title, though. The title of the article is "Does LSU's Recent Spike in COVID Cases Within Their Football Team Foreshadow the College Football Season to Come?"

That's also my point. Dude thought he had made some brilliant one-liner, when he just hadn't bothered to read what was actually said.

Again, "in quarantine," not "tested positive."
