if you are an Orgeron supporter, what , if anything, would cause you to stop supporting him? 6-6? one losing season? two losing seasons? an off the field incident? or will you support him unconditionally?

on the flip side, if you were not a fan of the O hire, what, if anything, would make you change your mind about him? winning the West? the SEC? national title? or is there nothing he can do to get you to support him?

this really is not all that different from fans that supported Miles unconditionally, and those who never liked him despite winning a national title and playing for another, so this isn't so much a thread about Orgeron, instead simply trying to gauge the LSU fanbase.

A personal apology from O regarding the Troy game would be a good place to start

it's not just the record. it's how we look on the field. I could get real excited about a 9-3 regular season if we saw real offensive improvement in the passing game, that improved all year long and was at a high level by season's end.

if we won 9-3 and were totally relying on defense and special teams, I would be disappointed.

TBH, I think everyone who supports the TEAM recognizes that Ed doesn't have but a couple years to prove we can win. but he does have those couple years.

I mean if we won the SEC next season that would buy him a good bit of slack

If his supporters still support him after opting to kick a FG on 4th and inches from the goal line when a QB sneak works in that scenario 99 out of 100 times, then I don't know what could possibly have them turn on him.

an off the field incident

I just don't see this happening. That is one of the things I think Alleva liked about O.

this whole discussion is really not as complex and difficult as most make it out to be...

I pull for LSU...

The coach is only relevant in so much as LSU is winning or losing... ( if anyone makes stupid choices, such as sexual misconduct, then fire them... I don't care who you are..)

There is no objective measure that can be made to justify the hiring of Orgeron...
(I am looking at you Alleva.. ) But he is the coach of my team now, so I want him to succeed...

Why does anyone get bent out of shape with that.. ??

Oh crap. Where did this rational thought come from? This may cause tRant to short circuit.

I'll answer just to go on record AGAIN, but honestly...this type of thread is just gonna trigger guys like p&g, Ree, SpaceCowboy, Granddad, etc.

1- There is nothing he can EVER do to make his initial hire a good one. That's important, because it holds Joe Alleva and the rest of the BOS and LSU in general responsible for their complete and utter lack of a quality search which resulted in the hiring of a man with a losing career record who no other program wanted to steer our ship. The outcome ought NEVER EVER rewrite the history of that hire...and that's very important.

2- Start winning at a clip better than his predecessor. Regardless of the all of the revisionism that has resulted in suggesting that Miles was let go for things that were ultimately NOT his record, that's horseshite...Miles was let go because of his record. He could have been as stubborn and pig headed as anyone to have ever coached and had he won more games he'd still be here. One can argue that his stubbornness resulted in the record, but at the end of the day it was the record. So...if he betters Miles' record over several years, I'm in. Much like my take on Miles, I don't really care HOW he does it...I'm in favor of wins and less interested in exciting or moral victories. so...he needs to win more than Miles.

3- There isn't a 3. I don't insist in titles...though winning the SECW is a requirement on a semi-regular basis otherwise we're just treading water as a program.

My complaints about him have been mostly about #1`and his failing to live up to #2. they have also been due to decisions he's made in regards to running the program and hires which seem even less likely to result in #2.

You understand this is almost exactly the same take that even the most vehement voices against Orgeron being the head coach have been saying, right?

In fact, the only people suggesting there is some large contingent of LSU fans actively pulling against Orgeron and LSU are those constantly flaking for Orgeron. And it doesn't matter how many times it's said...it's simply ignored and thrown out again as an insult a bit later.

I want LSU to win, and if that means Orgeron personally benefits from that...hooray! The fact that I don't think things will turn out like that and because of that I voice my concerns about it DOES NOT mean I'm pulling for LSU to lose.

The coaches and people who actually watched the game probably remembered this series of plays against ND. You should have watched, it was an interesting game until the very end.

1st and Goal at ND 10
(10:00 - 2nd) Darrel Williams run for 9 yds to the NDame 1

2nd and Goal at ND 1
(9:20 - 2nd) Darrel Williams run for no gain to the NDame 1

3rd and Goal at ND 1
(8:29 - 2nd)
Danny Etling run for no gain to the NDame 1

play
4th and Goal at ND 1
(7:59 - 2nd) LSU Penalty, False Start (Tory Carter) to the NDame 6

If Coach Bebe came running out of the tunnel after halftime against Bama, rips his shirt off, and beat them, I'd be a lot more accepting of having farmer Fran as a head coach.

That's it?
That is what you are hanging your hat on?
Hoping that Orgeron will do something like that so you can rejoice in his firing?

Dude you are one sick puppy.

That FG call from inside the 1 yard line already significantly detracted from my opinion of him.

Anything under 8 wins should have him looking for a new job. But it will likely take something like us not being bowling eligible for it to be a conversation.

Sad part is, for the first time in nearly 20 years 5-7 is a legit possibility.
