Yep those old suspension helmets gave berth to the phrase “Got your bell rung” AKA concussed!

I loved that uniform-- don' know why that helmet design was discontinued. It was so cool. That's how I want LSU to look in all their home games next year-- maybe one or two with purple shirts and this helmet and gold pants, and the rest trad

Great throwback uniform.

Nothing wrong in honoring our rich football history.

I’ll be honest- I don’t care for this helmet, especially the logo. That said, I’m good with us honoring the past. I’m ok with the alternates we have today, so I’m not going to complain about us using throwbacks.

Jones to Davis! Awesome uniforms would love to see it as throwback!!

One of Tigers’ greatest games. Remember it like yesterday. Stovall on counterplay about 56 yards then Jones to Davis for the win 10-7.

Any other old Tigers who were there?

I believe you are confusing two different games:

The Jones to Davis discussed by the poster to whom you responded refers to Bert Jones to Brad Davis in the 1972 Ole Miss game in which LSU won 17-16 on a last second TD and extra point by Rusty Jackson.

Jerry Stovall played at LSU from 1960-1962 and retired from pro football in 1971. His eligibility would have been exhausted by over 10 years by the time Jones to Davis happened.

There are two games in Stovall's career at LSU that ended in 10-7 score
1961 vs. Ole Miss and 1962 vs. Ga Tech. In the 1961 LSU-Ole Miss game Stovall did have a long run of 57 to the OM 23 prior to the go ahead TD being scored by Harris on a running play around the left side of the line. Jimmy Field and Lynn Amadee were the Tiger QBs that day. Both Bert Jones and Brad Davis would have been 11-12 years old on this day.

I was there, and was nearly crushed trying to leave the stadium, in pancake style. It felt like an earthquake

1962 Stovall had a kickoff return @ Georgia Tech for a TD to start the second half. Game ended 10-7 Tigers.

We wore G-P-G that afternoon and didn't suck

Selling peanuts in South endzone for this one! Jones to Davis! Awesome uniforms would love to see it as throwback!! Earned 3 silver dollars for selling 75 bag of nuts! Played cup ball in endzone after game.

And ended up a Texas fan?

it's with great excitement that I tell you Nike and LSU are rumoured to be working on an early 1970's LSU feauxback uniform as worn by Tiger legend Bertram Jones.

Where are these rumors coming from? what and are who is your source?

What needs to be worked on? a quick google search will show you all you need to know. Same gold helmet gray facemask, change the logo to the one of that era. The only thing different is the logo and the facemask. Seems pretty straight forward to me.

I like it, I am all for a throwback uniform being brought out once a year or once every couple of years.
