LSU fans, help me out. Are these stats true? Who else steps up?

Leading tacklers from last year gone/out- (I'll list them all because it looks crazier)

TFL leaders gone
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Sack leaders gone
1, 2, 3, 4, and a few others mingled in there with 1 sack

Well Arden Key is back and he lead the team is TFL and sacks, so these stats are incorrect. Also Donnie Alexander was 7th in tackles and John Battle was 9th.

I think that referred to those who left the program, those potentially suspended, and injuries.

Is Key playing? I thought he was hurt.

I think he's referring to the upcoming game on Saturday. Key won't play because he's still recovering, and Alexander is rumored to be suspended.

The numbers he quoted actually don't contradict that Battle had the 9th most tackles last year. It says that the guy with the 9th most tackles will be playing.

Just watch Saturday night. You'll find out who steps up. These guys won't be gone all season. Not worried about the BYU game. We have the offense to score with anyone and the defense to hold any team down. Will more mistakes likely happen, do to said missing players for the BYU game, yes but it won't effect us enough to make much of a difference in the end.

Now if we were going into the sec season with these issues it might be more concerning, but I would still have high confidence that LSU could compete with anyone. LSU loses players every year and every year LSU replaces them with players who are more talented, or just as good, 95% of the time.

It's going to be a great game. Tune into it. Offense will be fun to watch. GT

I'll just post the projected lineup for BYU so you can see what we've got

RDE - Rashard Lawrence, 5-star, good amount of experience as a sophomore, has impressed in camp

NT - Greg Gilmore, 4 star, lots of experience, RS SR

LDE - Christian LaCouture, 4 star, team captain, RS SR

Buck LB - Ray Thornton, 4 star, RS FR, really athletic -or- K'Lavon Chaisson, 4/5 star, FR, really impressive

MLB - Tyler Taylor, 4 star, FR, really smart/instinctive -or- Jacob Phillips, 5 star, FR, extremely athletic

Rover - Devin White, 4 star, SO, freak of nature, violent, will be tremendous

Field LB - Corey Thompson, 4 star, 6th year senior, former safety, very athletic

Left Corner - Donte Jackson, JR, 5 star, extremely athletic

Strong safety - John Battle, SR, 3 star, reliable, sound tackler

Free Safety - Ed Paris, SR, 4 star, unknown -or- Grant Delpit, FR, looks to be the next great LSU safety

Right Corner - Greedy Williams, RS FR, athletic, sound, etc

Nickel - Kary Vincent, FR, very fast -or- Xavier Lewis, RS SO, instinctive, physical

There's really no holes in the defense besides with experience. The entire defense is extremely athletic and talented. I expect the young guys to step up just like young guys in the past here at LSU. It's almost a tradition for freshmen to come here and play big roles.

ETA: LSU doesn't really have problems with young guys stepping up. Tyler Taylor and Jacob Phillips have already passed up other LBs as true freshmen. The same goes for Delpit and Kary Vincent who've come in as FR and dethroned older, 5 star guys. If you're good enough to start at LSU as a freshman, it's likely that you'll be in the NFL in 3 years. Thornton isn't a replacement for Key but he's a completely different type of LB. K'Lavon Chaisson could end up being better than Key was as a FR and it's not surprising to be honest.

Actually with Arden being out plus the suspensions, that's correct. Whoops.

I know y'all are hoping beyond hope that this actually makes a difference but do you actually think our HC would suspend these guys if he thought that it would create a huge issue against BYU?

I really hope your team is this dense and don't prepare quite as hard as they usually would, thinking that they will have a slightly easier game. The fact of the matter is that if these guys were suspended then they probably shouldn't start anyway. We have guys behind them who have worked just as hard and were right on our starters hills for the starting positions. Our defense will be tough on your offense and there's no way around that.

I also keep hearing how much Key being gone will make this huge impact in yalls eyes and I can see why, but you guys have no clue how good we are behind key. We could actually play all our MLBs, and Thompson and still look dominant in the LBing core. This team is nasty. Just highly talented across the board. You all will see come Saturday. I know it's hard to see and you want to get your hopes up for a possible win but I'm telling you, it will NOT happen. GT

Wrong. We dont tackle....opposing players immediately lay down when they get close to a LSU playing fearing what would happen to themselves if they did get hit. Thus, we will be fine.

What's the mad face for? Weren't we either in every game last season or totally dominated everyone else?

Only game we truly lost was to Bama and I think that will be fixed with this years scheme. We might lose the game but I almost promise you no one will shut LSU out this year nor will they dominate LSU.

If LSU had even a decent Redzone offense last year or some semblance of a 2min offense we likely go 11-1 last year. At least 10-2. Not that hard to fathom that this offense will get that done, while moving the ball as good as we did at the end of last season.

We'll see Saturday. They have a lot to prove but I have no doubt that they will do that.

LSU doesn't have a team full of freshman starters. We have plenty of veteran players people. When has LSUs defense been a worry? Not to mention we have one of if not the best schematic defensive coordinator in the country. He knows how to hide weakness. If he's excited, which he seems to be, then I am there with him. Y'all can crawl under a rock and hide if you like, I'm confident until proven otherwise.

Interesting note about suspensions not happening if players are good. BYU suspends players for honor code violations no matter who they are.

Is that some sort of slight against LSU? Need to cite sources that LSU doesn't punish their best players because I certainly can think of some NFL guys who were kicked off.
