LSU always played Alabama in Birmingham during the Cholly Mac era when LSU was the visitor. They didn't begin playing in Tuscaloosa until 1980 in Stovall's 1st year and played in Birmingham in 1982, 1984, and 1986, and played in Tuscaloosa on a regular basis starting in 1988
