The Weeks brothers provide quality depth at linebacker.

How does Andre Sam have eligibility? He enrolled in 2017.

2017 - RS
2018 - Year 1 Eligibility
2019 - Year 2 Eligibility
2020 - COVID
2021 - Year 3 Eligibility
2022 - Year 4 Eligibility

Don't get me wrong, I'll take it and I'm obviously missing something (maybe a medical redshirt?)

I guess the ”2020” season played in Spring 2021 and the regular Fall 2021 seasons must not have counted at the FCS level.

Like safeties, one positive is that multiple LBs can play multiple positions. Penn will probably play a ton at Sam with Speights at Will and Perkins as an extra edge rusher.

Great job the only correction as someone has said is Sampson has been running with the 2nd team where Landon is on your chart.

Alt, isn't that how any team is in regards to a lot of unknown or perceived drop offs from 1st to 2nd team? At defensive tackle, the back ups are two solid guys in Tank Guilliory and Jordan Jefferson, JJ is a potential all SEC type player. Then at linebacker behind Omar and Harold, you have LSU's leading tackler from last year in Penn along with the West Weeks who has a lot of playing experience and Whit Weeks, who probably is more talented than his brother. Then at defensive end behind Savion, they have Shand and hopefully someone like Wiggins or Womack step up.

Sure. Every team has those issue. I think LSU has enough depth to still be "good". The question is do they have enough to be championship level good? There is a difference. Some teams at the top are better equipped to handle personnel losses than others. Unfortunately, that question can't be answered until the season starts. And HOPEFULLY it won't have to be answered because the key players will remain healthy throughout.

Not going to lie, depth on the interior of the defensive line worries me the most. Dear baby Jesus please protect LSU against injuries.

I know a lot of people consider the defensive backfield as unproven, which is true, but they will come a long really fast if the interior of the DL can stay healthy and consistent.

The leading tackler from a year ago is literally the backup to Perkins lol. Greg Penn provides quality depth and will still play a lot.

I agree with you Alt, I see where you are coming from and have to say that we do need to recruit better in regards to our defensive line. Only time will tell how our players develop.

Only reason Sampson is running with the 2’s is because Landon is out right now with a hip injury. Hilton moved over behind BTJ and Sampson is running behind Nabers

Ibieta has a potential season ending injury so he's not going to be on the 2 deep.

True, and that’s obviously situational but I believe Wingo will play more snaps than Guillory when it’s all said and done.

I know this is a depth chart thread, but man I love seeing 5 of the last 6 games at home on that schedule.
that’s a good point. If we can get through the Missouri game unscathed remainder of the schedule sets up really nicely for us with a bye before the only away game at Bama in the second half of the year.

Excellent, thanks. To me it is going to be interesting to see how the RB room shakes out and steps up to take control. Deepest RB room at LSU that I can remember.

I totally agree with this thought but I'd rather have 3 studs than 8 journeymen. Hopefully a few of these guys will step up and show out

Wingo better be on the field a lot. He was a work horse for us last year.

Just think about how it is going to look next year when Wingo and maason are gone.
