Updated to include Andre' Sam at Free Safety. You can watch videos and read his profile on the Marshall roster, but he is not listed on the Tulane roster. Although On3 ranks him as the #228 Safety, that is probably only because they just added his name to the bottom of the list and haven't actually rated any of the players listed from 204-228. From watching the videos on Marshall's website, it looks like Sam split time at Free Safety and Nickel.

According to On3, Logan Diggs is ranked as the #20 RB out of the transfer portal. You can read his profile on the Notre Dame website. I do not assume (contra, Matt Moscona) that Diggs is immediately the best RB on the team. I actually expect Noah Cain and Josh Williams to compete for the starting spot, at least for the first couple of games.

My Depth Chart Philosophy:
• I begin with the observable Depth Chart from last season.
• Incoming players are added at the bottom of the Depth Chart until we can observe them ascending in the pecking order in practice.
• Early Enrollees are placed above Summer Enrollees.
• Transfers are placed above Freshmen.
• All else being equal, I defer to the high rated player according to On3.

Scholarship Numbers:
There is a discrepancy in the total scholarship numbers. According to my chart, there are 81 scholarships (including Andre Sam). However, Mike Scarborough attained and reported a number that seems to reflect only 80 currently. This was reaffirmed by Matt Moscona. Perhaps Damian Ramos did not receive a scholarship, or perhaps he was overlooked at the time of the report. I have been waiting for a report that Gregory Clayton might be awarded a scholarship, but I have not read or heard anything about that.

I will never understand why they waited this late to add another safety.

Could've had one out of the portal earlier.

Thanks, very good! We look really solid on both sides of the ball and we are not done yet. LSU is a playoff contender for sure. Solid depth......

I think as of right now the depth chart is Williams or Diggs at RB1, then Cain RB3.

Emery you can’t even factor, same with Goodwin, given their returns are wholly unclear.

If Jackson comes in ready to go I could see him passing up Cain by mid season. Cain is just a plodder.

Damn good.

I see you put KR and PR by the player names. That is new isn’t it?

Curious if we just added a 2023 kicker from La, late.

Offensive depth chart looks very nice. Safety is a concern, putting a lot of faith in either Kylin Jackson or Yaites to step in and produce early

I really hope Ryan Yaites can step up at safety and be a major contributor. Denver Harris or Zy Alexander may be asked to play safety during the year.

John Emery could be the 1 not counting.

I think (hope?) the DBs will eventually get sorted out, but it may take some time. If we can get by FSU with th early win hopefully we'll have time to figure out our best five.

I trust Chestnut and Denver Harris didn't transfer to be back-ups. I think the talent is there; the issue will be how long it takes for them to get cohesive.

Where is Mekhi Wingo? He’s a possible All-American defensive lineman. There’s no way anyone keeps him off the field, especially not Jacobian Guillory.

We are in deep shite if anyone gets hurt at S. Toviano is prob going to have to play there. Maybe a Nickel/S role.

Thanks for putting this together. I count 80 as well, but what do I know?

I hope we fill our last 5-6 spots with 2-3 more Olinemen, another DB, and "best available".

But it's good to see us having depth across the chart.

Some of the scouting folks from On3 and TigerBait are expecting Chestnut to compete for the Nickel spot, but I think they are functioning under the assumption that LSU is still running with a Nickel-Corner, rather than a Nickel-Safety. LSU plays 3 Safeties these days.

Agreed. I have him as the #2 DT because that was his position last year, while Jaquelin Roy was manning the NT spot. With Maason Smith returning, it remains to be seen which one of them will move from DT to NT, but I suspect it will be Smith. I just chose not to make the change until I could observe a change during a practice video.

Just gimme anything you got on Maason Smith. If he's good, we're good. So much riding on that guy it's unbearable.

I suspect that they will intentionally leave some of the scholarships unfilled. Remember, they can recruit more than 25 true freshmen so long as they do not surpass the 85-man limit.
