LSU Defense in November

18.5 PPG
299.5 YPG
3 sack/g
7.76 TFL/G
Oops 24.56% on third downs
We were giving up 28.8 PPG and 408.5 YPG through October.
And we held Arkansas to their second lowest all season and Alabama to their lowest all season
We all pretty much saw the drastic change in scheme. But the numbers really are startling.

This is why I have a lot of respect going forward for Daronte, he clearly can coach. Idk if it will be here or where but the guy has earned the respect imo. I wouldnt be mad at all if we gave him a look if Freeman decided to stay in ND or goes elsewhere.

Are you fighting for Jones? If so stop. Great defensive improvement yes, but only after Kiffin pointed out we were just base defense and not blitzing.
O took credit for the change too, so either Jones fixed it only after being told he could/should blitz, or O actually fixed it. Neither is a good selling point for what should arguably be the best DC in college football.

I wish him success, but he should not be considered for DC at LSU as of today. 5 years from now maybe, but LSU is not the school you learn to be a DC at.
It’s like saying we should keep Peetz because he called 4 great plays this Saturday, when he hasn’t called any good plays the last 3 games.

O was our HC if he saying run 4 men and no blitzes what is Jones supposed to do?
I ultimately Would prefer other DC. I had the same reaction when someone else suggested it till I saw How much the defense improved. I would Say he’s a great failsafe
And 4 great plays is different than completely changing the defense 2 months in and having insane success against 3 SEC teams. Including the top scoring offense in the conference

O ruined Daronte Jone's season with his dumb shite Feaux man front.

Does anyone know why the change? It was like night and day. Would love to give credit where credit's due.

Dude just stop. Wish him the best, but he isn’t qualified. Did the defense improve yes, but the 3 great SEC teams you mentioned all have problems.
A&M isn’t that great on offense this year. Arkansas is 1 dimensional completely and guess what, zero blitzing stops that pretty well. Alabama wasn’t expecting us to blitz and their QB is a freshman who never really was pressure like that.
The guy only does 1 type of blitzing, zero blitzing, which A&M prepared for. Noticed how it got less effective throughout the game and we haven’t used it as much the last few games?

I like the 4 man front but even guys who run the 4 man front blitz to keep defenses on their toes.
The 2018 Clemson defense was a 4 man front, but they still brought Lb and DBs

Just imagine what Kelly and a real a DC can do with our 2nd stringers

Lane Kiffin, he told O after the Ole Miss game we were only playing a Base defense.

O knew we were just playing a base defense. He just needed to hear Kiffin say why thats bad.
Dude ruined our defense for 2 years.

He adapted well in all honesty, but I don't know if you stick with him. Had Aranda or another Defensive HC come in, sure, but with Kelly being an O specialist, you need to have a legit DC that isn't just one learning as he goes.
I am happy for Jones though, because unlike Peetz, he showed development as a playcaller and strategist. You cannot say the same for Peetz.

Which ironically was for 2 reasons by Kiffin.
1. Help out his buddy O subtly.
2. He wanted to help LSU in any way he could to beat Bama as that was the only shot they had at the SEC CG. Had LSU beaten Bama and they lost to Auburn, Ole Miss would be playing UGA on Saturday.
Jones just wasn't ready for the jump yet, but once he started calling blitzes, they were creative and worked. He has potential, but I agree he is not ready for this job just yet.

I would love if we could keep Jones on staff in another capacity other then DC. Maybe even as a Co-DC or as safety coach. I think he has a ton of potential and has learned through trial by fire. Whether it’s here or somewhere else, I’d love to see him get another opportunity somewhere. A ton of respect for the job he’s done

It went bad when O forced the 4-3 last year and then this year up to the Bama game.
That is all on O.
That is all on O.

O said so in the last press conference. Said they switched to the 3-4 and wish they'd done it sooner...
I almost fell out the chair...it was his dumbass that demanded we go to the 4-3 in the first place...
So glad O is gone.
