On a fishing camp?! He should have been focused on football a month away from game 1, that’s a poor lack of leadership

After 500 threads on who should start this happens?
Poor Brennan can't catch a break! He will play well for OU when he enters the transfer portal. Better than Jalen Hurts.

Nah, he grew up in Mississippi. He'll play for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss next season.

Or Air Raid and Mike Leach...Very Good Point!
He will play on Sundays...Max will play on Super Bowl Sunday!

This board is going to have to lower their expectations for now and realize they're going to have growing pains with Max.
Give me a break. If Myles was the starter, I projected LSU to lose two or three games to teams that can really get after the passer. While with Max at the helm, LSU has a far greater chance to win those games and to go undefeated.
As losing Myles, who was going to be the backup to Max, is bad especially for Myles, but it isn't devastating to LSU's 2021 season unless Max gets hurt and put out for several games.
Indeed, if Myles was going to be starter, since Max had made it clear that he wasn't transferring regardless if he lost the QB derby, there wasn't anything standing in Ed O's way to name Myles the starter, but he didn't. Obviously, because Max was going to be the starter.
Indeed, that's why Ed O brought Deculus to Birmingham with him, as opposed to Brennan.
It's also the reason why the insiders for two months now have been claiming that Max Johnson has already separated himself from Myles Brennan in the locker room and on the field. As those insiders are getting that info via their conversations with the players in the locker room.

The good news is the first half of our schedule sucks so it gives him time to heal.
Give me a break, Myles isn't coming back. As all he was, was a backup to Max Johnson. He's going to rehab his arm all season to be eligible for a medical redshirt and so he can still have two years of eligibility remaining, then he is going to hit the transfer portal early next year and probably transfer to Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss.

Can Brennan medical redshirt?
Yes, if he remains out for the entire season. Which is what he will do unless he is dumb.

It's plausible but Matt Corral hits the NFL draft after 2021. So Kiffin will need a QB.

Not if his QB presence and footwork don't improve very dramatically. Not to mention that Myles has gotten hurt almost every year since he has been at LSU. So those injuries will be a very big concern for NFL teams.

I thought a guy could play in up to 4 games and still keep the redshirt. I remember hearing something about that last season or the 2019 season.
Has this changed?

A medical redshirt and a regular redshirt are two entirely different things altogether, and even if Myles comes back, he will be the backup QB and backup QBs don't play. Indeed, he was going to be the backup to Max in 2021 had he not broken his arm.
I mean, Myles would already have been named the starting QB if Ed O was going to anoint him the starter. As there was nothing standing in the way of Ed O from naming Myles the starter since Max has already made it clear that he wasn't transferring regardless of the QB derby outcome, but Ed O didn't and he didn't because Ed O was going to name Max the starter. Indeed, the insiders have been saying for two months now that Max had separated himself from Myles both in the locker room and on the playing field. As those insiders are getting that info obviously via their conversations with the players in the locker room.

WTF was he doing water skiing? If he was really doing that then he just wasn’t focused enough anyway. No friggin way he should be doing that. In fact, guys like Burrow probably have clauses in their contract forbidding things like skiing.
Burrow is a pro under contract.
Miles has and is busting his arse for LSU for 4 years for free.
Hes a young college man having fun during his summer.
I played ball and I would ski all the time....ski, barefoot, tubes, wake board, etc
I'm really having a hard time imagining how he broke that bone on the water. There had to be another object involved. Object in the water, skiing up to a warf, hitting another skier, etc etc

I understand that but it is still a redshirt, no?

How do you know this? This is your opinion or fact? I've seen your other posts and for some reason you appear to have some axe to grind with Myles.

backup QBs don't play.
Who was Myles' back up last season? His back up played.
Just be realistic. I get you like Max. I like him too but come on. Don't be so biased.

Before fall practice even starts? Come on, man. They're not going to announce that so soon. No coach would with two great QBs competing.

Nothing except for it being so far in advance. Look, I'm not here to argue with you about who you feel should be the starter. It's fairly obvious who the starter is going to be.
The question is can Myles play in 4 games and keep his redshirt?
Looks like he can unless this is incorrect:
quote:
Medical redshirts are approved for players who meet strict criteria: They must have suffered the season-ending injury during the first half of the season, and they could not have played in more than three games before sustaining the injury
According to SI.

This is bs. Losing Brennan hurts the team and he was the likely starter. Rohan said as much a week ago on Espn Baton Rouge. Rohan said that he did think Max was the starter last spring, but things had changed and Brennan was in the lead.

That's funny. I heard Rohan about a month ago saying that he thought Brennan would be the starter. Then I heard Rohan about two weeks later say Max was the impending starter.

Exactly what I said. The season is 4 weeks away (30 something days) and a broken arm qualifies for the first half of the season. At least a little. I get there has been no practice and so forth but we're around a month away from game 1, it doesn't get much closer to the first half of the season.
Do you honestly expect Myles to go into practice with a cast on his arm, 30 days before the season opener, and the coaches are going to tell him, "Just pull your hurt arm behind you. Hope you don't get tackled." You're not being realistic. I'm not trying to be a jerk but come on.
You're acting like if it didn't happen at practice or in a break before or after practice, it doesn't count. Well it does.
"Sorry Brennan, we were so close to fall practice but that accident takes you out of it." That's essentially what you're saying. Stop. That isn't true. Look at what you said about the medical redshirt.
Not sure why you dislike Myles so much but man, you can support both QBs. It's ok.

speaking of QB's with broken arms, anybody remember this guy(against LSU in 1970)? That's when many of us learned to respect him.

Has he though? LSU has invested a shite load of time and money on this kid. They have given him every opportunity to be the starting QB at LSU. Not to mention the NIL shite just had him sign a deal with Hollingsworth. Think they’re happy about this? You want to be paid and treated like a pro? You better start acting like it.

Of course no one thinks he needs to be locked in the Ops Center all summer. But that’s what Burrow did because he wanted football to be his career. Myles has posted a lot of boating, fishing, vacation, etc., type stuff on his social media this summer. Meanwhile there’s videos out there of Max working with LSU WR’s, his dad, etc. One of them is serious about the position and one of them isn’t. Remember last offseason the insiders were talking about how all Myles wanted to do was be up his girlfriend’s arse? His willingness to dedicate himself to the sport was being questioned then too.

A lot of us played various sports past high school. Some of us took it more serious than others. Some of us moved up higher than others. You get what you put into it. Brennan will be fine in life. He’ll run some kind of charter fishing co. or maybe do something in the family business. Football most certainly won’t be his career.
