The benefit of going D first (other than the possibility of back to back possessions) is that if you can force a three and out, you end up with great field position. This is not likely with this defense. If they make stops it will likely be for field goals. You go O first and try to run away with it early.

We want the ball first in a game like this. Bama defense will tighten up as the game goes on. We need to score early on them and put pressure on their offense.

I hope we would defer to be able to get the ball first in the second half. In a game where we need to score on as many possessions as possible, having the opportunity to score right before half and then get the ball right back in the second half could be massive.

I also understand wanting to get the ball and score right away. Just nervous about that because we have started off kind of slow before.

LSU went 3 and out vs mizzou after choosing to receive. Then mizzou took an 8-0.

LSU’s offensive loosened up in the second half.
